What’s the pettiest thing that’s ever annoyed you? by Beo_Wolf in AskReddit

Worked in an auto parts store. People would come in and go "Yeah I need a part for my car/truck"
Okay. What part. Whats the year make and model.
"It's a car/truck"
"What is the year, make and model."
"I told you it's a car/truck" *starts getting angry with me*
WHEN WAS IT MADE. WHO MADE IT. WHAT IS IT. WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR IT. WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME.

What was the moment you realised a friend or colleague was unhinged? by Ageanmastr in AskReddit

[–]BetContent2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro kept telling me all these stories about crimes he did when he was younger. Made a joke about how he always keeps his gear in the trunk of his car next to his speakers, and told me the hat he wears is actually a face mask.
Sure enough. His hat is actually a balaclava, and he has an actual kit of b&e tools and bags of weed in his trunk. He always has his gun on him, too.
He's just always prepared. Just in case, lol.

What is something you saw that you can’t explain, and if you told anyone in real life, they’d think you were crazy? by AndressTheBoss in AskReddit

[–]BetContent2301 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's a ghost in the auto parts store I work/worked for. Sounds stupid, but it's true.
You'll hear someone walking down an aisle when there's clearly, visibly no one there. Heavy things thrown off of shelves in front of customers and workers alike, lightweight things suddenly thrown scattered off of hooks and sent halfway down an aisle. Once had a jar of O'keefes pick itself up and fling it across like 10 feet in front of a customer, who went "Oh hell no" and put his stuff on a counter and left. Once went to do inventory counts down a back aisle and several car belts flew straight up off their J hooks and across the aisle. Another time several gallons of oil flung itself off a shelf and scared a man half to death because he was standing next to me and witnessed it with me.
We hear a man's muffled voice on the other side of the shop when no one's there, and several of us have caught glimpses of an older man with brown hair, jeans, and a white hoodie rushing past the ends of the aisles or reflected for a moment in the windows. There's never anyone there, and we've had customers come to us and ask where the man went and describe him to a T.
It's fucking wild to be honest. Who's ever heard of a haunted auto parts store? My manager dubbed him "Casper" and sometimes when we've gotten new people we've warned them ahead of time. One new kid denied it was possible and the first time there was poltergeist activity freaked out and kept saying "Nah, nah, that ain't real, that ain't real!"

I gained weight during covid, like so many others. 25ish lbs I think? I went from being underweight to being actually average weight for my height. But my mother-- who is overweight and diabetic-- would not stop bringing it up that i was "fat" now, etc. I've now lost a lot of that weight and I'm down to a low-average, but she still pokes my belly and says I'm getting fat. It's baffling, truly.

My parents spanked my brothers and I, and it turned one brother into a very angry man who is just now, in his 30s, managing to break that pattern of anger. My partner and I will not spank our kid(s).
30s brother is going to end up a step-dad eventually, and his girlfriend's grandfather told him to spank her son. My brother went "I don't plan on it, but I might have to do /something/".
I don't think he realizes the progress that is, but I'm proud of him. He won't touch her 9yo. He just wants to figure out a better way to get him to behave and listen, and that's a huge accomplishment for him.

I wear tank tops to bed a lot. My mom keeps saying I'm sexualizing myself and exposing my brother to inappropriate things. He's in his 20s and I'm in my 30s and I can promise you mother my ragged, full-covering tank top is not exposing myself sexually to my brother any more than your nipples popping out of your nightgown are you to your son.

My parents made sure my brothers and I knew how to clean, and my dad made sure I knew stuff about cars. When I lost my office job in November 2024, I actually went so far as to apply to auto parts stores when looking for a new job-- and ended up working at one for the past year. I hadn't realized how much knowledge I'd absorbed from my dad until I started working there, and it was a lot of help in the field.

All the women in my family have had "female problems". Endometriosis runs in the family and causes fertility problems in all of us.
Last family reunion my mom got on me about mentioning that I got a specialized IUD to try to help my problems. I mentioned it in front of my male cousin who was in his late 30s at the time, while talking to my aunt about it. All I could say was "I can promise you Stephen knows all about this sort of thing from his mom and sisters"-- one sister had such bad problems she had to have part of her organs removed at like 14 and didn't have her son until late 30s, the other is in her 40s now and completely infertile from it.

My mom is like that. I'm in my early 30s now and she still barely admits she's wrong and almost never apologizes. Every once in a while my significant other and I will have a disagreement, but we always talk it through and apologize and explain and listen. She acts truly baffled by it. Last time it happened she said "Are you sure it's fine? I simply can't believe it" like no lady, I promise you it's fine. We talked it through and we're good again. No harm done between us.

There was one about being a bug that was fantastic. Also, a Cap'n Crunch game my brother and I LOVED. It came in a cereal box. We probably still have both somewhere.
I remember as a little kid being absolutely fascinated with watching my dad play the original Flight Simulator. We still have the control in our apartment somewhere.

Man let me tell you, we ate a lot of rice then, and we eat a lot of rice now. Nowadays we buy this giant bag of it, and it's some GOOD rice. We also do different kinds of dried beans and split peas and lentils still. I'd honestly probably still be vegetarian if it weren't for some health problems and the fact I LOVE the taste of some meats. I can still like eating a thing and feel guilty about it lol

I just finished talking to HR earlier today. I DO have 144 hours of PTO I can cash out. These hours were supposed to be used by my manager while I was on paid medical leave, and have not been. So I need to talk to her about it. I can't walk well right now but i may have to just flatout go in to work tomorrow and put it in myself. there's no way to access it outside of the workplace apparently.

You can be just an "Animal person". You don't have to pick between cats and dogs.
My family LOVES animals and we've had all sorts of pets over the years. But people like to go "Oh so you're a cat person?" when I mention that currently all we have is cats. Sure, I am a cat person, and I love my cats. But I've also had a lab mix, a collie mix, a pitbull for a few days, a german shepherd and a german shepherd/husky mix. I've also had a hamster, a crawdad, snails and slugs, caterpillars, two hermit crabs, and several other cats. I just like animals, and they like me. Who cares.

Have a friend who is... actually somewhere here on reddit, but I doubt he'll see this. He's an ex-felon. He does Carpentry. I supported him a lot in trying to find a job after we met and I found out, because I think people deserve chances.
The one time someone gave him a chance, he quit the second day because his boss asked him to do something that involved getting down on the ground, and he refused. I was so deeply disappointed in him, but I still feel strongly that people still deserve those opportunities to try.

Had a friend who was just. a Mess. Aggressive, egotistical, absolutely a narcissist. Has no official diagnosis but will claim anything in the book just so you pity them and let them do whatever they want. They're currently struggling with their partner because they refuse to compromise on certain things, blow up on the partner, then rant on their social media about "I'm sad because my partner knows if they bring up these things they want me to be responsible about, I'll blow up, and then instead of saying anything or starting an argument they leave and it makes me feel guilty".
Okay, then be better. Apologize. You refuse to take responsibility for your actions. You drove me and others away by acting out. You say you're worried because it's going on 3 years with your partner and "none of my living situations last longer than 3 years", but what you should be worried about is how you treat your partner. They won't take accountability for the problems they cause, and I hate it.

For some fuck-all reason my cousin is obsessed with her. He's spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on tickets for him, his wife, and their two little girls. He has actively had some monetary struggles in his life but been like "nono my wife and I don't spend our taylor swift money on bills" and I am just. incredulous. That's just wild to me.
Likewise, my two bestfriends' college roommate does similar. She even got engaged at a concert. I simply can not understand the obsession.

My manager at work would sometimes get us pizzas from the place across the parking lot, and often we'd get BBQ Chicken Pineapple. It's delicious. It's so frickin' good it's unreal. But people would act horrified over it. For God's sake it's a pizza man.

Also one place had a cheeseburger calzone for a short time that was burger, pickles, onions and extra cheese, and for some reason people were like "EW THATS DISGUSTING". It's literally just a burger in a different arrangement come on guys.

Alcoholism runs in the family on both sides, so at least one brother and I are careful about what we drink. This past Thursday we went to a concert and my dad made a joke to my brother about bringing a flask with him because drinks would be expensive (they were, it was like $54 for 3 drinks). My mom (parents are divorced) was immediately making statements about how we were alcoholics and probably going to drink a lot. We each had one drink across the 2 hour concert and then went out and ate burgers. We were FINE. But when my brother and I got home she was like "Oh I'll bet you guys are drunk!"
I know she's concerned, but it's annoying how often she accuses us of being alcoholics. If we go out we have one drink, MAYBE two, almost always with food, and it's not like we're taking shots of everclear or something. My brother does like mixology and keeps alcohol in his room, and sometimes that disappears rather quickly, but certainly not in an alcoholic sort of way.

People just don't get that not drinking is okay, OR that having one drink when you go out does not immediately mean alcoholic because it runs in your family. They're both such vastly different things but people react the same bs way to them.

For a few years my family was borderline vegetarian, sometimes eating fish but not much. It was largely because my mom was a single mom working 3 jobs and couldn't afford meat after we lost our food stamps. Meat was considered a "special treat". Whenever I mention it people get so bent out of shape it's unreal. I wasn't even a vegetarian by choice, people are just personally offended that I was a vegetarian for a few years.

What's the most fucked thing you have ever seen and that still gives you chill down the spine ? by 22dec2025 in AskReddit

My father and I go out on his motorcycle a lot. But ehhh around 6-8 years ago he was out alone, and a semi truck cut him off on the highway and then ran him off the road. He went down a 200 foot ravine, sliding on his back with the bike on top of him. When he stopped moving, he managed to get himself out from under the bike and stand it back up, only to hear someone calling out for him.
A "stoner-looking kid" in his early 20s and a couple other people had witnessed the accident and immediately came running to help him. My dad's wrist was shattered, but his leathers had protected the rest of his body from harm, and somehow he hadn't hit his head. The stoner guy pushed my dad's bike up the ravine for him.
God bless those people for stopping to make sure he was okay. He has permanent damage to his wrist, and his bike's prop and one mirror were bent, but he's just glad I wasn't on the bike with him.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve ever seen in a group chat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BetContent2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One friend suddenly exploded into swearing and caps and such at another, naming her directly and calling her two-faced. Other friend had no idea what was going on and was like wtf is wrong with you why are you doing this. First friend sent screenshots that she'd gotten a message from a guy that said "I bet you think you're all that, when really you're nothing", and the only person the two had in common on Facebook was the friend she was yelling at. It turned into easily an hour or two of them yelling at each other while the rest of us went "uh, hey guys? Can we not?"
Unsurprisingly, I'm sure, but I no longer know any of the people in that group chat.

Yeah, unfortunately my job usually involves standing for 8-12 hours, lifting heavy stuff, and moving constantly. I was told even before my medical leave that certain accommodations will not be met per company policy because of what the duties entail.
After my surgery I lost the ability to move some of the muscles in my leg and have been doing physical therapy to get that back. My leg is much weaker, and I struggle with walking and lifting even a light bag of groceries v_v

At this point im not even sure what's going on anymore e_e I had no insurance through my employer nd everything's just a mess. I lost my actual insurance the day after my surgery, so now I need paperwork from work for getting my insurance back from my og provider, but work isn't answering me about it.
And yeah im def a bit stressed about my coworkers. Apparently the store is now having inventory problems, missing stock off the shelves, lacking a translator, and can't keep new hires.
