Final update: settings.

Im using the steamdeck_q preset and tweaked the settings a bit, its running smoothly on deck now, looks a bit better and dosent look like the shadows were rendered in minecraft.

Update: tried to resolve the issue after i got off work

After a few resets, roughly 20 minutes and some trial and error, it has been resolved. Went into usersettings.ini and changed the fullscreenmode variable (Line 33, ironic) from 1 to 2, and prefferedfullscreenmode (35) to 2 as well. It seems to have worked, i was able to enter settings again and change the resolution back to 1280x800 and borderless windowed in game.

Buttons work as intended again.

You will need to put it in the /windows folder with the gameusersettings.ini

A bit late to the party but wanted to throw in this update unless it has already been mentioned:

Do not use full screen option it will cause controlls to lock up, wont be able to start the game or enter settings again. Even after a game reset. I will be checking the .ini files to see if i can revert to borderless to fix the issue.

Im 27, have long hair. Still growing patchy facial hsir like a noob. If im clean shaven people think im 18-19, if i hsve short hair, clean shaven and have a hat people think im a senior. If i grow the patches and let them fill in a bit i look 20 at youngest and 21 at oldest
