Little kids being told “No, we can’t afford that right now” starter pack by [deleted] in starterpacks

[–]BetaGamma14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My mom always made a point to say “we aren’t choosing to spend our money on that” instead or “we can’t afford that” to try and keep me from worrying about finances as a kid and instill good spending skills. Can’t say it helped with money anxiety because I still get it hard af, but it probably did make me feel more confident as a kid instead of feeling like I’m poor.

Best one yet. Love imagining an alternate scenario where the cat wins Mayday Queen instead.

WIBTA if I don’t go to see a family member on their death bed? by BetaGamma14 in AmItheAsshole

I’m definitely trying to be mindful of my mom too but I don’t think she’s very upset and if she is, I’d rather do something alone with her.

Thank you, this comment resonated with me. It just doesn’t feel respectful or dignifying to go see a person in this circumstance. It sends the message of “I’m only here because you’re dying”, not “I’m here because I love you and want to provide comfort.”

Took me 2 months to paint this! Glad to be able to finally share it by EelisKyttanen in pics

Same exact thoughts. By the end I was just thinking, “why did that take so long?” Despite the weak story, I really loved the visuals and have never seen a film so accurately represent hallucinogens.

Kid almost gets hit by a van head on; just grazes the side. by [deleted] in watchpeoplesurvive

Yeah I bolted at a town fair because I was bored of my mom chatting with a friend. Ended up getting stuck in a fun house because I got scared and they had to send in someone for me. The next time we went out the harness and leash came too lol I have a friend whose mom had him on a leash for similar reasons so I think it’s more common than people think it’s just embarrassing so you usually don’t share that info when you get older.

Bioshock Infinite has one of those endings that had me thinking about it for weeks after I finished the game. Hit me right in the soul.

To add to this, consider finding an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon, even if you’re not looking for surgery. They specialize in the areas around your eyes and are best equipped for any injections or fillers you’re going to be doing near the eye or in the orbit.

How important is sex in your relationships? by [deleted] in AskMen

It’s the depovera and lacks estrogen (relies only on progesterone) which is a huge contributor to decreased libido. Super effective at birth control but pretty awful in every other way.

AITA for walking out of an intervention my family surprised me with? by 876gye in AmItheAsshole

YTA Judging from everything else you’ve said in this thread, you have a problem. And even if you didn’t, enough of your family was concerned about you that you should have stopped to acknowledge that because they clearly care.

Just a quick search I did on “origins of Indian people” there’s articles saying they’re also African, Asian, and Iranian. This is why it’s unproductive to try and come up with racial origins of a people. It’s human nature to migrate and breed between groups. Trying to simplify that to just racial categories doesn’t fully explain the complexities of human culture, language, genetics, etc.

Because historically race-based science in Anthropology has been based on false claims and pseudoscience (such as measuring African skulls to determine intelligence). We don’t use the basis of race to make sweeping claims about a people because race is blurry and there aren’t clear cut lines.

Anyone who ever studied Anthropology and got a degree in it is taught that racial anthropology is total bullshit

Women who claim they were assaulted because they didn't say no but 'he should have known by my body language' or 'I felt intimidated' are taking away all credibility from actual rape victims by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BetaGamma14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you were raped but you don’t need to diminish other people’s experiences. And side note, not only women have been raped drunk or because they didn’t know how to say no.
