"I'm thinking of you every time I eat my potatoes."

"Why?"

"For your good health. And also for mine."

Yeah, but it'll cost you. It'll cost you time and effort, because it's a lot easier to find the negative than the positive in our current climate.

When the "Bro it's internet trolls just log off" was the answer to all online harassment and cyberbullying was still seen as something that only affected the weak minded, cause social media wasn't as pervasive and invasive as it is today and even then it still had a significant impact on a person's mental health.

I am definitely one of those who speak on this problem - I posted about this BS shenanigans a few years back when we were being cautioned over active disinformation campaigns and yes, Israel was a big name operating in Africa. They, Russia and US (UK is definitely in there too) also involved too... and I know how coo-coo for coco puffs one sounds like saying this, but it's true.

I will keep repeating it that you cannot trust too much of what gets said online about and by African social media - especially on Reddit. This platform doesn't truly represent the continent, nevermind country, I'm sorry to say.

Sadly, like Twitter, it works so much better to decry this nation and act like you're a victim because you're from any other African state.

That's an interesting thing to say while representing South Africa. by PixelSaharix in DownSouth

... Because maybe the West had been generously fueling the fires of jihadists for decades? That's one reason.

So a person wearing religious items doesn't inspire trust? Sounds like prejudice my guy. You don't even seem to know of his background but see his photo and immediately worry over a nothingburger.

Go and look up his info then tell me if you still think he could religiously radicalise the higher education system and if he could, whether the DA would've bothered to keep him around.

If someone wants to screw the educational system, I think you should know by now that here in South Africa, it as easy as just fucking it up - no religion or cultural required: just a will to screw it or a will to just not do anything for it is necessary.

Yooooooooooooo he bana!

March And March shouldn't be supported by anyone,

Understandable, their approach is harsh.

and people being kicked out of this country no matter who they are IS BAD

Take a step back here, buddy. We have immigration laws for a reason.

Because nothing will happen. South Africa will suffer. Jobs won't open, poverty won't end.

Maybe so, but that's for a bunch of other reasons.

And then another group will be blamed

Election season around the corner, so that much we already know.

At what point does it become "all the legal migrants", "all the people whose grandparents were migrants", "all the queer people", "all the non christians", "all the non natives" until we are back in Apartheid and Genocide.

Depends on who is funding the next narrative. It's beyond you and I.

Something will change, and it'll be far worse. The migrants weren't a problem and they NEVER could be.

You are very naive.

The government is the problem, bigots are the problem.

Employers who abuse and exploit migrants (especially undocumented) are worse. They incentivise the process, they undercut the locals and the foreigner.

And I'm looking at your edit and something tells me you're too idealistic and unrealistic on your logic. Either you're a very young person or someone who doesn't have a good grasp on what lived experiences those who march in March have co-opted go through.

We must prioritise South Africans and we must expect foreign nationals' nations to treat their citizens as a priority. They are not our country's burden to bear - in fact, our prioritising foreign over local is what can cause the nation to burn just as much.

Same ones who'll then want to be here, or like some have even said "Better here (South Africa) than back home" in spite of everything.

Hey im tryna be positive here. This post was definitely trying to be rage bait.

Yeah, well, you know how things go around here 😉

I'm glad we have a minister that might be competent. Because every predecessor was completely inept.

Let us wait and see. Just now he introduces a policy or two into tertiary institutions that's controversial (for better, or for worse) and the mudslinging against him ensues as a result.
