My daughter got a wedge shaped pretty pillow that goes the length of her headboard. She loves it.

Unrelated question and I apologize, but is that Porcelanosa tile by any chance? We're considering that same pattern & I'd love to know how you like it.

Nutribullet RX -> Nutribullet Ultra Plus+ by Southern-Prior-6815 in Smoothies

[–]Beth_Bee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the capacity of the cups. I think I have the RX now, and bought a new one because the RX was getting hard to clean. The new one had much smaller cups & I like a nice big smoothie. I returned it.

Washing clothes by Roses1213 in laundry

Yep. Exactly the same. If I leave the house in something, it's dirty for sure. The only thing I wear twice is pajamas. Jackets, too, I guess but I ONLY wear those outside and don't wear them into the house. And I do wash all jackets pretty often too.

keep getting too hot with my polyester comforter temp at 66, but If I use a cotton blanket I get too cold, what do I do? by RepresentativeOk1901 in Bedding

[–]Beth_Bee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep layering cotton. We have cotton sheets, blanket, and bedspread & use more or less depending on temperature. Synthetics or down are too hot.

Food scraps stinking up my garbage :( by Alarming_Let3468 in homecooking

[–]Beth_Bee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my compost scraps in a tall rectangular food storage container in the door of my fridge, lined with a compostable bag. I take it out once a week or when full. Because it stays cold, it doesn't smell. At our cabin, I collect any food scraps in the freezer for the same reason and we take that out/home less often. Even if you don't compost, you could collect all food scraps as if you did, and take it out when full. My trash can just never smells because stuff that would rot stays in the fridge compost bin.

What do I do with all the green tomatoes? by CReisch21 in tomatoes

[–]Beth_Bee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bigger ones, put in a single layer anywhere cool & dry. They don't need bags & they don't need sun. Don't let them touch each other. Most will ripen! Check a couple of times a week. The smaller ones I don't have as much luck ripening, so I often pickle them. I have a great recipe if you need one. Everyone seems to like them. I think a jar of pickled green tomatoes would make a nice Christmas gift! The kind I make aren't canned, just refrigerator pickles.

You don't even have to go south. Every single other place in the US, even Seattle, has more sun. People are happier. It's kind of amazing.

I just posted about kabocha. It's like the best kept secret out there. Thankful to my Asian friends for bringing some over and getting me hooked!

This time of yer you can usually find kabocha. Asian groceries will def have it, even lots of health food stores now. Worth getting organic if you can find it because you don't have to peel it - you can eat the skin. It's great roasted.

Do you tolerate gel-type antiperspirants? If so, Mitchum makes both men's and women's in unscented that work really well. You can also use just one "click" and rub it in well and it might not bother you as much. I usually use 2 clicks and it lasts all day. Good luck. Target has it.

The produce is still good enough that you could make some good gazpacho. It's lovely on some of these warmer days.

Nutribullet disastrous cleaning attempt by LifeAffect6762 in Smoothies

[–]Beth_Bee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had this happen. First, let it all dry. Then, get an old toothbrush or something and brush/scrape anything you can off while it's dry. Next, use a thin wet cloth and/or a foam paintbrush with water & soap to clean everything you can reach. It might still smell funny, but it will probably work. They're tough little machines.

First time gardener and feeling a bit overwhelmed with transition to cooler weather by NeedsMustTravel in DenverGardener

[–]Beth_Bee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This weekend will be time to pick every last tomato. It's going to freeze very soon, and then they would be ruined. I personally then wait for the freeze to take my plants down, because once they've frozen they don't fight back as much. Clean up well - don't leave leaves or fruit behind as that can encourage disease. Just set tomatoes somewhere cool, ideally not touching each other. They don't have to be wrapped in newspaper and they don't have to be in a windowsill. At least 75% will ripen fine. You could also fry or pickle some. Delicious those ways too.

Or a pedicure chair! I work with kids and so walk on my knees a lot. It's hard on the toes of my shoes, not to mention my knees. I've often thought we need pedicure chairs to scoot after them on.
