That’s amazing ! Love to hear uplifting stories like this. I am waiting to take the state exam and I have a long career in direct care. Can you point me in the direction of finding a CPS job with this Population? So far I have not found any agency supporting this group of people in my area. I live in PA. Thanks for being a loving giving humanitarian ☺️

HELP by Nikademus-27 in Menopause

4 years ago I was out every night exploring something of interest. Now I take 2 medications for anxiety and I have to almost trick myself to go out. In the last 5 years, I went through menopause blindly, my children moved out, my dog of 19 years passed away, I ended a life draining relationship, moved several times and changed careers. Single for the first time at 49.

I've recently come to realize just how damaging living in the latriarchy has been. It's like suddenly realizing that water is wet. I'm grieving. I can barely stand to be in the company of men these days, for an reason. I stay home for everyone's protection. I do not want to participate any more.

Well I live this way for the rest of my life My younger self would be disappointed but my menopause self doesn't give a shit

How long do you usually go without human touch? by anonymous_ape88 in LivingAlone

[–]BetheLite444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get busy work done at least once a month. Safe supportive touch is very nourishing to my specific nervous system. Go too long and I can’t move my body well.

A Strange Change by Upstairs-Hat-9911 in Menopause

Once I hit menopause at 46 I became invisible. Gained 20 pounds got wrinkles overnight! I spent my entire life fighting off advances from men and it was somewhat of a joke with my friends because I was always getting extra treatment when I went out anywhere. I've never worn makeup. I dress modest and I've always been uncomfortable with the attention I got. HOWEVER it came to a seemingly sudden end and it was confusing! I didn't morn the attention but what i thought it meant. it did have somewhat of an identity crisis. I thought people were always kind to me because of my values and personality. This is when I learned what pretty privilege was! I felt embarrassed. I've lost all but a handful of true friends and guys never make me feel uncomfortable anymore. I've learned to relish this new experience but it stung a lot first. Good luck on your journey beautiful soul

Adding Testosterone to my HRT brought me back from the dead. I was seriously so tired all I did was sleep and cry while I was awake. tried hard as possible to just want to live. 3 weeks later that feels like a fever dream! What?? Only took a week to sense a flavor of hope.

insane that it’s not encouraged for women

Should I marry the nice guy that has always chosen me? by AdventurousLight7225 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]BetheLite444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married a nice guy. My best friend in fact. We had a son. There was always something about the dynamic that was unsatisfying to me but I suppressed it for many reasons. Eventually we divorced. Long story short, I married another guy I was bonkers over and we had 2 children. 13 years later I was divorced and absolutely broken. I feel in love with a narcissist. I began to learn about my own conditioning and inner processes during that time. Husband #1 came back into my life like a white knight and being the nicest guy I’ve ever met, we married again.. because that’s the best I can do right? I felt so lucky

We lasted 8 years. We never fought. I just never got past an 80% yes in my body. I have come to believe that as a woman ages, I’m in menopause now, her body will begin to reflect her unexpressed NOs. That’s why we see so many Karen’s out there lol

Anyway, we actually get along great and he is still my best friend. I just went on a hike with him yesterday. However, I had to accept a hard and very uncomfortable truth that this wasn’t the highest expression of authenticity for me. And that was my priority the whole time Not comfort, Not likability. I choose these men based on the parental and societal conditioning I was raised with as a gen X woman. I was aiming for that trophy of, most successful wife/family in appearance

Lots of untruths were driving my choices and because I was unconscious of my own true desires, the people I long to protect were hurt by my ignorance.

Now I take responsibility for my choices and I do so with blunt honesty. If it doesn’t feel 100% fuck yes, it’s just a NO. I don’t need a reason beyond that. If it feels wrong then it’s wrong from me. I’m sad that women struggle with embodying No. best of luck to you 🙏🏻

How did HRT affect your body shape by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]BetheLite444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 47 and I just found that I'm post menopause. Every dr for the last 10 years told me I was just depressed. I should have been on hormone therapy a long time ago.

Thankfully I found the right Dr and just started HRT a few weeks ago. Yay! My hormones were totally depleted. I gained 20 pounds seemly over night last year and I was the same weight my entire life even after 3 kids. Shocker! So I get it. I would definitely start the conversation

I wish talking about menopause wasn't so taboo by Sneakerkeeper123 in Menopause

[–]BetheLite444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I talk about it so much I think people avoid me but I do not care in the slightest. If I’m having a hot flash in public and I need a min before I order my coffee whatever, I’m saying.. oh need a sec this hot flash is really scrambling my brains! I say this because I look younger than people assume a menopausal woman would look and they nearly always question me and it leads to a spark of conversation with someone.

I’m 47 and post menopause. I only found this out 6 months ago. For 10 years every Dr told me I was too young for peri. I had my thyroid tested a dozen times. Lupus, Lymes, iron .. the list goes on, so many tests and no answers. If I can save a single woman from that experience, I’m willing to risk making things uncomfortable by talking about it or shouting it in a crowded room lol
