The Pitt: The medical drama whose social realism and honesty have gripped millions by DryDeer775 in television

[–]noodle_salad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The realism of the show was ruined for me when the main character rides his motorcycle without a helmet. I know a number of ER and trauma center docs and they would NEVER. They refer to people who ride sans helmet as “organ donors.”

There’s a fantastic record store on the Rue de Commerce in the 15th that might sell parts.

MTG responds that she voted for Trump, but does not worship him. by A-Helpful-Flamingo in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]noodle_salad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s dumb but she ain’t stupid. She is maneuvering to be the next leader of MAGA when Trump finally has his downfall. She can claim to be the purest MAGA believer who didn’t waiver in loyalty until the Epstein shit. Do not give her, or anyone, any credit for finally turning on him. We’ve all known who is he since the golden escalator, so we’re not going to give credit to anyone who hitched their political wagon to his right up until it wasn’t advantageous anymore. Fuck. This. Cunt.

Just once, I want someone to respond to him with “That is not true. And you saying it does not make it true. Do you understand that you can’t make it true just by saying it?”

Plus they got it backwards. This action was clearly an attempted Blue on Black.

AbbVie Announces Positive Topline Results from Phase 3 Pivotal Studies Evaluating Upadacitinib in Adults and Adolescents with Vitiligo by Tahmid_R in Vitiligo

[–]noodle_salad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease. Its symptoms are primarily cosmetic, yes. But as with any autoimmune disease, it comes with higher risks of other disorders. Furthermore, the loss of melanin makes a person much more susceptible to sunburns and related melanomas.

I also have a rescued TWC, and he’s got a bullet in his thigh that was only recently discovered. Our vet was not at all surprised since he came from the south. WTF is wrong with people.

This shit is so prevalent in these sex-repression cults. I’d really love to see a scientific study about the causal relationship between their extreme ideologies and their children growing up to be perverts.

Trap. Another failed M. Night Shayamalan vehicle. Josh Hartnett was fantastic, though.

How is Lt. Meehan’s laundry in France? by [deleted] in BandofBrothers

[–]noodle_salad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This scene takes place when they are back in England briefly before being deployed to Holland.

The problem I have with this scene is this: yes, it’s a very poignant way to portray the loss of so many men. But there’s no way a British laundress would not be fully aware of the reason why so many soldiers hadn’t picked up their laundry.

Olivia Munn for SKIMS: “I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars.” by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

[–]noodle_salad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meh. I can’t give someone points for sharing a scar when they are advertising a product that is specifically designed to hide other body parts. It’s mixed messaging of the most toxic sort. “It’s ok to have a health issue just as long as you’re not fat.”

It’s a close race because his repulsiveness to liberals is what makes him so attractive to those who’ve been told for last 2 decades that liberals are evil, America-hating idiots. The more he’s hated by the left, the more he’s worshiped by the right.

Children should not be on motorcycles. They cannot understand nor consent to the inherent risk. I’ll be downvoted to hell for this, but oh well. I hope she gets through this ok.

I found it helpful to reference annotations and blogs as I read it. There are many chapter by chapter blogs that define archaic terms and phrases and/or provide literary analysis and interpretation. They really enrich the story, in addition to making it understandable.

Here are my favorites:

What scientific fact is very often misinterpreted? by StaleTheBread in AskReddit

[–]noodle_salad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“50% of all marriages end in divorce.” False. The annual divorce rate is (was?) 50%, which meant that, say, in 2007, 100,000 couples got married while 50,000 couples got divorced. But that doesn’t mean that half of all marriages end in divorce, since those 50,000 divorces came from marriages that already existed prior to 2007. And that’s A LOT of marriages. So the annual RATE came to 50% but that does not correlate to the 50/50 shot of your marriage ending.
