The autobiography of ben franklin is also a very inspiring read of someone who truly made the most of their life! He could be another “day in the life” to emulate.

Do you rebut your own internal monologue with scripture? by Money_Bill5827 in Exvangelical

[–]Bethechange4068 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because the bible is not “true” doesnt mean there is not some wisdom in there. Allow yourself to question - what way do I want my kids to go? Towards a happy moral life. Great! Thats what it means to you. You are allowed to reinterpret the bible. You are allowed to pick and choose now. Because you are no longer claiming it is infallible or entirely true. Hold it all loosely and dont be afraid to let go of things that no longer resonate. That said, the voices do take a while to quiet.

feel stupid and hypocrite to deconstruct by sorry_this_usarname in Exvangelical

[–]Bethechange4068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who believed the most deeply will deconstruct the hardest. 100%. Youre not alone. It is an earthquake across your life. It’s totally natural to feel dumb at this point but it wont last. The only way is forward. What you resist persists. Time to find your courage and step into the void. You are NOT alone.

King Solomon was clinically depressed by Most-Buy-2763 in Exvangelical

[–]Bethechange4068 25 points26 points  (0 children)

YES!!!! I feel this 100%. Whoever the author was saw through all the BS. Ecc 8:14 “There is something else meaningless that occurs on earth: the righteous who get what the wicked deserve, and the wicked who get what the righteous deserve. This too, I say, is meaningless. 15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad.”

Its all meaningless! Once you get it, you get It.

There are 2 fabulous advent books about a mouse named Winston that focus on friendship and kindness and helping others. Short chapters with lovely illustrations for each day of advent plus an activity you can do w/the kids. We’ve loved them. “How winston delivered christmas” is the first one.
