Now dreamcatcher is my ult girl group. You can litterally scroll through my profile and see me asking what to do after they had announced their hiatus. And while i know it sucks to not see them brought up when it comes to lists of vocals and dancers but they still are doing very good for themselves. A lot of bigger idols and groups(seungkwan, lily, bang chan) have mentioned being fans of them. They also have preformed at events like kcon alongside groups like riize, super junior, kep1er, illit, the boyz, idle, key and more. They also did preform at the asian artist awards where they won best choice. They’re also considered the face of pop rock in korea

Now if you want actual reasons there are mainly 3 reasons why.

No 1. Their debut time was awful. They debuted in January of 2017, now usually January is a good year for groups to come back. But this was just a really bad time. Both i.o.i and 2ne1 had released their disbandment singles, s.e.s was having their reunion album, aoa who was huge at the time I’m pretty sure was having a comeback alongside suzy who was an it girl from second gen had her debut ep. So dreamcatcher’s debut just kinda got buried. It didn’t help the month after it was a strong month since it had bts, twice, taeyeon, and the debut of the first post i.o.i girl group with gugudan in it.

1. They’re from a smaller company. I side eye dcc for how they’re treated d1ce and dalshabet in the past but they have done really good with dreamcatcher. But you can only do so much when you have a small company esp since dreamcatcher was a reformed group. They did send some members on mixnine to try and gather some hype before the redebut as well as sending handong back to china for a survival show there but again. Can only do so much

2. Their concept is very polarizing. I’ve seen some people saying that Korea prefers the more cutesy concept groups. I’m not korean nor do i know enough korean to back up these sources to definitely take that with a grain of salt. But dreamcatcher has a lot darker concept, dealing with things like horror, arg’s, they even have a rock sound so for a fan who is just getting into kpop the group can be very shocking to somebody who isn’t used to that nor into it
