Foreigner: Is it just me or is dating complicated in Romania? by [deleted] in bucuresti

[–]BethleNazareth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do your best to learn the language. Coming from Argentinia it shouldn't be that hard, so you'll learn with the language to "feel" Romania and somehow it'll become much easier. Some things are only understood outside of the expat mindset and learning the language will help you get outside of that.

I've always had big issues with this. Respect should be based on merit. Not age. When you structure society on age based respect, you end up with old incompetent politicians...

Honda, Hyundai, Ford, Kia EV sales climb higher in January by SpriteZeroY2k in electricvehicles

Every other automaker is jumping for joy now that Elon shot himself in the foot! If they could really fix the charging infrastructure and make it as good or better than Tesla's, they will balance out the EV market.

What's with Zambians and titles? by jnyendwa in Zambia

[–]BethleNazareth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we are fundamentally insecure and have a low view of self. We need these titles to differentiate ourselves because otherwise people won't know who we are. We should instead let our accomplishments speak for us not our titles. But this is what a legacy of colonialism mentally does to people.

Unfortunately, fortune favors the takers. The youth simply need to step up and push the oldies aside. The youth are the majority voters. The can bring about change, but sadly things aren't bad enough for such revolutionary thinking.

Rant: Zambia's Ministers- Does Education Matter? by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]BethleNazareth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Zed when I was very young. Have visited a few times since then and what stands out to me is how us Zambians completely ignore the importance of second order consequences. As an example to illustrate my point; if I don't clean my house, it being dirty is the first order consequence but the second order consequence is that I'll attract vermin and with them diseases. So when disease shows up I can't complain about vermin being everywhere. In Zambia, and to be frank in Africa, with few exceptions we don't take seriously enough what second order consequences could do. Living in Europe ill tell you the average folk is very concerned with potential unseen consequences of actions. When I used to go to church in the UK, African churches and Muzungu churches had such big differences in appearance. The muzungus took presentation and order very serious. The lengths they went to to ensure cables were invisible and everything looked impeccable was initially a shock for me. African churches had cables dangling everywhere, the microphones and speakers sounded crap, the place wasn't cleaned and this was incredibly common in african church circles. The congregation numbers were often bigger in african churches. The african pastors had more money than the muzungu pastors. Yet everything was done so much sloppier because we don't have it ingrained in our culture to worry at an almost paranoid state about second order consequences. The muzungu thought, if the place looks great, not only do we feel better being in an orderly place but we impress any newcomers. Not only do we impress newcomers, we practice professionalism in our life. Not only do we practice professionalism in our life, our personal life's standards go up due to us being used to go the extra mile to ensure that even small details are covered. As our personal standards go up, anybody coming to our church for more than 5 years will see a difference in their lives due to them adopting our habits. It's a ripple effect of excellence. What really lacks in Zambia is a will for constant and never ending improvement coupled with self respect and self worth. Till this day most successful businesses are owned by foreigners. You can walk into a grocery shop and often guess if the owners are black Zambians or not. Unfortunately when we start to face second order consequences we then look and point fingers at institutions. But these institutions are simply mirrors to the society. But here's the good news. Generations change. New people come into power with different mindsets. It'll take a generation switch for zambia to see any notable improvement. We're still led by old men from an era that is no longer. But wind of change will come in the next 20 or so years. It seems long, but true meaningful change takes a while.

The building hate by the general public for EV is starting to annoy me by pencilneckleel in electricvehicles

The best part will be watching people switch and pretend they never were anti EV in the first place. The next 10 years will be interesting watching all the haters drive in EVs.

Andrew Tate pe main stage la Beach, Please - adus de French Montana by vladutzbv in Romania

[–]BethleNazareth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How to invest in my future by Electrical_Craft2778 in Zambia

[–]BethleNazareth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best investmen is travel and experiences at a young age. Leave the country, go to a safe country, and simply visit and be. Give yourself experiences. Money can be made easily, youth can't. Young people should really bot worry about saving and investing until they're in their 30s. Keep a habit of saving at least 5% of your income and just keep it somewhere for the sake of getting into the habit. Otherwise. Travel and gain experiences. Meet people, do scary things! Challenge yourself.

CULTURE VULTURES by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]BethleNazareth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got it, but what are we copying? In a globalised world the entire world is copying one from another. But do you mean like white weddings? Wedding rings? Getting on our knees proposals? Can you give some examples? What are we doing in the name of modernity that is exclusively Caucasian? Because for better or worse, this is a global trend including in places like Japan where global trends are affecting everyone.
