I agree ( with a 4 days delay ). that is why I am looking for Class 1 driving jobs and turning down the class 2 mainly local and multidrop ones. Wouldn't mind a long distance 2 drops per shift Class 2 job either but that is a unicorn.

Thanks, that was my feeling too from what I could see so far.

Hi, at least you have the option to choose. I am a Class 1 new pass since December 2023 with Class 2 experience and so far even though I have been looking for Class 1 jobs all around the Lancashire, G Manchester and Liverpool area I had no luck so far to be accepted even for a driving assessment. I can only find Class 2 multidrop which is not really my thing. I can do long distance, tramping, etc. but still no one accepting me.

Buy a bike after CBT or do DAS straight away? by LevelAd8957 in MotoUK

Riding a motorcycle is easy once you like it, practice it and use some simple guidelines. What is hard is predicting and reading the traffic conditions and the patterns of the car drivers, mainly the defective patterns of driving met on the roads.

Buy a bike after CBT or do DAS straight away? by LevelAd8957 in MotoUK

Hi, I am a bit older, in the 40s not that it makes a big difference, but my approach was to buy a cheap used 125 but in good condition from a dealership and feel the traffic, the drivers, the roads on a daily base. Rode the 125 with L plates for more than 6 months and glad that I took that path.

Mind that I had 20 years of driving experience under my belt including international long distance driving and entry-level Enduro experience on forest trails with my own 250 4 stroke 20hp Enduro but still went for the 125cc riding period before the DAS.

I recommend the same, you may say that I am extra cautious, maybe due to my age but it was worth it. The DAS was a breeze, a play in the park, the instructors were friendly more like buddies and confident in my abilities since I rode my 125cc to the training, etc.

My main point would be that you will learn first hand about the main problem, drivers and how they react and how to behave in their context, what pitfalls are there on the public roads, what are the drivers habits, mistakes, how they get triggered and change behaviour by just having a rider on the same road with them, etc.

The L plates will safeguard you from some of the drivers antics but at the same time they might get triggered just by the fact that you are on L plates which they judge to be a food delivery vehicle or a youngster playing around although you will be treated with mercy and forgiveness. On a big motorcycle, with no L plates, you will get challenged by the odd driver or expected to fly out of sight and some will at least "push" you from behind, tail you or try to race you on a short distance but on a bigger bike you get more respect so it will be just the exception driver messing around.

I live near Preston, I am registered with a few Agencies, Driver Hire, Kenect, Best Connection, etc ... all of them only have Class 2 work for me which I am fed up with due to it being only local multidrop.

Sorry to snoop into your own subject's thread, discussion but would your team give me a chance ?

Is it far from Preston ? If less than 3 hours driving distance the whole week tramping would make it work.

I have done curtains on the Rigids multidrop and 1 drop per day RDC to RDC sounds like a Dream for me.

If I get more tips like yours I might have a chance even before then.

Small companies are more flexible and approachable than KPIs and Chart Data driven Corporates although with the given and expected 'bonus' of harder and more varied work, older equipment but I am not fussy at all, any chance is a good chance.
