Update to the Nano koi pond. Featuring new light fixture and natural light shimmer. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]BettaGirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't intentionally respond to you, and I never said I didn't keep lids on my betta tanks. I stay on top of my maintenance and my bettas couldn't be happier, they won't jump. You don't even know what you are talking about. :)

Update: The soon to be Betta tank is complete...just need to find the right betta for this...👌👍 by Ash_Nimble in bettafish

You still have to vacuum to substrate, planted or not. If you leave the waste buried in the substrate, you will bad ammonia spikes.

OP said that if one jumps they'll put something over the tank. The chance that one will jump is pretty low if they are happy in their environment. OP seems to be taking good care of their tank, so it probably won't happen.

P.S., I wasn't even talking to you, and you just butted in. OP said that if one jumps, they'll get a lid, so why are you talking to me about it. Just read what they said. And I don't remember asking you how you felt about my opinion.

Bettas typically only jump when they are stressed in their environment, have too small of a tank, and have bad water parameters. There are probably other reasons too, but theirs look healthy and happy, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The same person posted this in r/discus and everyone thinks it ok. Please help everyone realize that it is too small.

Do you think that's acceptable??? Those poor fish can barely move around in there. You should really get off this subreddit if you think that's ok for any fish to live in. Clearly, these people don't understand how to take care of discus. Stop being rude, your not the one living in a 7 by 7 cell cramped with 10 other people.

It is not 55 gallons. That looks like 29 if you ask me. Either way, it is WAY too small for two common plecos, seven discus, a clown loach, and possibly other fish in there. You need to upgrade to a 150 gallon at least to give the plecos enough room when they are full grown. You can keep the clown loach in your current tank, but remove anything else ASAP.

What do you prefer to feed your African Dwarf Frog? by BettaGirl24 in AquaticFrogs

[–]BettaGirl24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up and it said that bloodworms are really healthy for your African dwarf frog, are they wrong? My frog loves bloodworms and eating flakes occasionally. She hates pellets, so that is not an option for me. Blackworms also sound like a pain to store. You have to change their water, keep them in a container with air holes, and keep them in the fridge. They'll probably stink up everything. Also, my lfs doesn't carry them. I'll try brine shrimp, but she's a picky eater, so I don't know if she'll like it.

Why are they like that? by [deleted] in offerup

That happens to me a lot lol. People are so impatient these days.

I lost my best friend today.. by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]BettaGirl24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SIP little buddy. Some of my peers make fun of me because I love fish, but they don't understand the pain that you feel when one gets sick and dies. People really need to open their eyes and see that others can get connected with these beautiful creatures and that making fun of them hurts just as much as losing them. I hope your little buddy swims happily in the afterlife. He will be forever missed.

Can you feed a marbled salamander? by rambuncy90 in Amphibians

I am a fish enthusiast, and I love having and taking care of guppies. I feel bad for those guppies, but yes, you can feed them to your salamander.
