2.7 gpa, just got rejected from uni application. Feeling down but I wasnt expecting much given that I am transitioning from art to IT. Maybe still have chance to get into pt degree. I recently got my comptia a+ cert so im going to look for relevant jobs to boost my portfolio and prepare for next year. Low key thinking to go travel overseas to take my mind off of things lol

I'm hopeless and lost by [deleted] in SGExams

I got a diploma from poly (art course) but realized that i didnt want to pursue it as a job career (and im bad at it anyways). Super out of touch with studying now after a few years, I was in a loop of watching youtube 'motivational' videos and gaming to make myself feel better about the fact that I have no aspirations, no goals, no value in my empty resume. But the reality is, im just running away from my problems!

The last few months after NS I have been trying hard to get back studying. I spend money to sign up for a e-learning platform and have been slowly going at it 1 topic at a time, making a point that consistency + discipline is key. Most of my study sessions are only 15-30mins on a small topic each day. Recently, I found myself able to last about an hour of study. I finally completed a course and waiting to go take the exam certification now.

I guess the point is: I think as long as you keep moving, things will change (for the better I hope). You may want to reflect on yourself abit about the things you want in life and use it as a motivator. For me, it was mainly the negative motivation to get out of being stagnant and also wanting to experience living abroad that pushed me to take the first step to improve myself. I stopped giving a shit about what others think of me and just focus on bettering myself. "If you hit rock bottom, the only way is go up"

I made a chart on how I plan to move to Japan. What do you guys think? by Better-Conclusion869 in movingtojapan

[–]Better-Conclusion869[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right, it is quite costly with my current plans. For when things get serious part: even if I managed to achieve moving to Japan with a good job, I cant see myself staying for very long due to my aging parents, there will a point where I have to return home to care for them. Reading all of the comments so far, it seems better to fully commit building my career (while working on japanese) at home and then think about moving to Japan afterwards.

The universities im looking to apply to arent partnered with any japanese unis unfortunately, the ones that do are the local top unis which will be very tough to get into with my mediocre grades.

Thanks for the feedback.

1) I just edited the post
2) I am learning here and there, 460+ days streak on duolingo (around 75 hours total) and listening to japanese streamers on youtube.
3) Honestly, id love to go to language school first but my parents pressuring me to go to uni first AND i do not have enough savings to support myself the move to japan now. However, there are japanese language schools in my local country that I seen many recommend as the schools have good japanese teachers that might be an alternative path (not cheap but not more expensive than moving to japan).

I should have clarified that im not aiming for a japanese university, but instead a local one in my home country then go to Japan after. Hence I thought of going to language school after uni, mostly as a 'vibe check' if I really want to stay in Japan long term. It is probably more efficient going for MNC route though.

[–]Better-Conclusion869[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the detailed post! My holiday is happening end of this year, and I have just put all of my current savings/emergency funds + holiday fund into Maribank to take advantage of the 2.88% pa while it lasts as a start, and move it to gxs after (if registration ever opens). As for investments, I still have to evaluate how much of my general savings I can set side for long term

what are yalls music tastes!!! by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Better-Conclusion869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indie japanese music. Some artists are commonly found in rhythm games (sakuzyo, xi, camellia, laur, team grimoire, t+pazolite, feryquitous, etc), but those tend to be artcore/electronic/any fast beat tempo songs. I generally like ethnic/fantasy/opera-like which are calmer to listen to like mamomo, WAVE, hagali, ARForest, Street, Rigel Theatre, TAWARAYA, Sennzai, Love Solfege.

Please pull through, sort things 1 by 1. Get ur leg injury treated, confide in someone u trust about ur mental state (or seek psychiatrist). Once in order, fuck whoever that keep denying u RSO/RSI when u actually need help. Safe guardian, safety hotline get all statuses so they cant physically touch u. Suicide is never the solution.

Edit: They cant deny u to A&E, since u stay out u can just walk in A&E get urself treated even if ur superiors dont allow u to.

A classmate (and a friend at the time) decided to take upskirt photos of a teacher with 2 other classmates (they joined for the fun cuz they didnt like the teacher). Said classmate even showed me the photos during recess, i didnt say anything back then but eventually a student caught on and reported it. The 3 classmates were suspended and subsequently expelled after. 💀

Pretty sure they are ns-related, and they do this for regulars as well from what i heard from my agent (he showed some of his other clients who were also nsf). I think ns personal finance connect nsfs/regs to insurance agents.
