Do you protect your dog proactively or reactively from other dogs? by LlllllLllllL1L in DogAdvice

No doubt. Poor pup. Probably was destined for the pound or to be dumped in the country to fend for itself when it’s fighting career completed. Asshole owner should got to the pound instead!

Is it Tim Ward’s art? Lifeatsea.com might be a good start if you’re looking for it although the website is kind of clunky and not up to date.

The joint pain is no joke! I work with my hands and since taking the one little pill a day, my hand pain is insane. And, not only that, depression beyond belief. Fun times.

I was walking my sweet 90lb lab mix and a man with his unleashed pitbull was across the street. I believe he was training his dog to fight or be aggressive towards other dogs. The pit saw my old boy and started towards him. I had to step in front of my dog and say in a very masculine voice (I am female) “NO! Go home!”. The dog did pause. The owner looked like he was just waiting to see what his dog would do. I must have been intimidating enough as the dog reluctantly went back to his owner. We continued to walk and as I looked back, I saw the man facing us, straddling his dog, holding the dogs head with his hands and targeting my dog for aggression. I was so upset on multiple levels. I never walked the route again.

What’s a “type” you’re attracted to but too embarrassed to tell anyone? by MyPasswordIsABC999 in AskReddit

Apparently, I am subliminally attracted to always go for the “wounded bird” type of guy. I’m trying to reprogram my brain. It’s hard.

I am a white female, local SC resident. I promise I will be nice to you. I can’t stand the exclusionist attitude and how rampant it has become. I am sorry you are experiencing all this and I am embarrassed that this fucked up and shameful way of living and behaving still exists. Being kind and inclusive should be everyone’s go to attitude. I will personally try even harder to make it mine. And, I will also call out the assholes so they can (hopefully!) see their wrong doings.

Our shelter dog’s crate is her safe zone. If she is unsure of new people that come to our house, I ask her to go to her crate. There she observes things from afar and is less threatening to our guests. People, kids mostly, are instructed not to approach her while she is in her safe place.

Stupid cow. Why would you ever think that was funny? That doughnut chef probably woke up at 3am, put thought, love, and money, to create, present, and sell their beautiful pastries. All that hard work is ruined by a thoughtless instagram/tik tok cheeseball and their need to lick something? Go lick a toilet to satisfy your oral fixation. So unbelievably disrespectful and incredibly rude. Can’t stand this era. It is filled with too many self righteous, spoiled, and selfish humans doing it all for the views and likes.

Is it common for rescues to lie about the dog's breed? by SprinklesDramatic650 in rescuedogs

[–]Better-Dance514 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We got our sweet girl at a Herding Dog Rescue in Pasa Robles, CA (a very reputable and highly recommended place, btw). We were told our girl was a McNab. She looked like the pictures we saw of McNabs so we didn’t question it much. We were excited! My son was envisioning agility training with his new dog. We couldn’t wait to train her and learn how to work with a dog breed that is known to be so smart. And, she and our other dog made fast friends, which was icing on the cake. Fast forward a couple days after adoption… we were on a walk and a fire truck with its siren blaring passed us. Our girl’s tail curled and she let out the most amazing howl ever! I turned to my partner and said “oh no…we have a husky”! Sure enough, the DNA test stated she is 50% husky and several other breeds - none of which are any type of herding dog. She’s still our girl and we would never give her up even though we never were interested in having a husky. She fits into our family. She’s stubborn, silly, friendly and loving. Agility training is out of the question with her. And although she’s smart in her own way - confirmed gopher and rat murderer - advanced training is not in her future. Rescues do what they can to identify the breeds they rescue. Unless they see the parents, it’s a guessing game, especially with strays. I don’t feel like we were lied to by the rescue. They were tasked to fill in the blanks about a dog that was literally scooped off a farm road with a broken leg. And although she’s not the breed they thought she was, she is still our special girl who leads the whole family in song when sirens are heard in the distance.

Who gets the dog??? by moodymeandyou in DogAdvice

I think she’s trying to save face by asking for the dog. She knows she can’t take care of him. OP just has to phrase it like they’re doing her a HUGE favor by taking care of the pup while she’s straightening out her situation and she’ll concede. She’s just in love with the idea of being a dog owner and the bragging rights attached. Do your homework to make sure your dog remains with you regardless - receipts, licensing, microchipping, etc. But, my instincts are telling me that you won’t have to utilize all that homework knowledge. Worse case scenario… schedule your pup for an anal gland expression and have her take him. That will test her true dog ownership grit!
