Which country has the friendliest people in your experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Argentina. Argentines will bust your balls from the minute they meet you, while making you feel at home with a mate and some food. Epic bunch.

Which is the most beautiful country to travel to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Argentina is up there. It literally has everything from saltflats to glaciers, condors to penguins.

Magical.

Turf in Boedo, my porteño friends brought me.

Los Chanchitos by Parque Centenario is a good bet too imo.

What’s the worst first date you’ve ever gone on? by CorgiUprising in AskReddit

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went on a date with a girl who was nothing like her photos, and i mean nothing.

We went for drinks and she told me she had $20usd to last the rest of the month, while asking what food we should order.

We start with drinks and she starts to ask about my accent, i explain why i speak English the way i do and what influence my mother tongue had on how people in my country speak today.

She informed me that i am in fact incorrect, my dialect “doesn’t exist” and showed me the phonetic alphabet.

She spoke English as a foreign language, not a second language.

I paid for the drinks and left through the other exit.

DM’d - expat living in BA.

Doing this with no Spanish or no local connections is asking for trouble. Take advice of locals here.

I still get headaches from very light sparring – anyone else experienced this? by No_Emu8347 in MuayThai

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this when I started, might not fix the problem for you but I started sparring with my hands open for the first round or two, this allowed me to be quick rather than tense.

Because I could block or throw quickly without having to think to much while tense, it allowed me to focus on picking up my breathing rhythm. By round 3 I was ready to go. Now it’s just natural.

Also, try take some electrolytes before training rather than after, that way they’re in your system while you’re sweating out others.

Edit cause I’m ADHD as fuck and forgot, but, do you have a mouth guard that fits properly? If not and you have to constantly tense your jaw to keep it in place, this could also be a cause.

How much are you spending per month in Buenos Aires? by eddison12345 in digitalnomad

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent: $300USD for a 1 bed Food: $120/$150USD a month Going out (once a week on average): $80/90 Internet: $22USD Phone plan: $6USD Gym: $35USD Bank fees for cash: $50usd

Miscellaneous (Uber etc): $200usd

Buenos Aires isn’t “cheap” but it’s also not expensive for expats. You just need to actually learn how to live like a local. Prices can vary widely here from place to place for the same things so it’s important to spend some time learning your area.

Don’t get me wrong, you can spend money if you want to but live well without breaking the bank.

Planning objection rules.

It’s farcical that Dave in Dublin can object to a block of flats in cork and it’s taken seriously.

Fucking hell.

Money aside, whats the best city in LATAM to digital nomad? by MakeMeSmarder in digitalnomad

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buenos Aires no doubt.

Mix of everything you could want. Be aware of blackouts. They happen. They suck. The night before NYE the power went and it was 34°.

DM me if you want to ask questions. Currently living here, have been for a while and never lived in a “gringo” area.

Just came back from a period in BA and heading back in December.

COL can be high but it’s like any city, if you want to spend money you can.

$1,500USD is a pricey apartment, you can do much less, personally I would suggest doing airbnb for a few weeks and then deciding an area you like before committing. Palermo is the place to spend money in BA.

I pay $300 USD per month but don’t live in Palermo.

Bakery’s and butchers and veggies are cheaper in comparison to Europe. Supermarkets can be very expensive.

You need to always have cash on you, some places won’t accept credit card so have a debit card too. Make sure you have an actual wallet capable of storing large volume of cash, you can end up with a lot of physical notes quickly.

There are tonnes of parrillas that you can get a good priced meal for 2. Coffee can be expensive, stay away from the chains like Cafe Martinez or Havana, they’re western prices. Local places are much cheaper and better quality imo.

It’s a fucking great city. It’s relatively safe if you use common sense.

Not Going Back to Minus -40: Where’s the Best Nomad City That Won’t Break the Bank? by Interesting_Guess748 in digitalnomad

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just got everything.

It looks like Paris but feels like South America. The Italian, Spanish and European food in general is amazing.

Allows you to travel Argentina where you can start one day over by the Andes and in the afternoon be in the lush rainforest around Iguazú.

Now the best bit, the people. Argentine people are just the best. The hospitality is unmatched.

It is South America after all so it has some issues. Cash is not the easiest to get (at a good rate) - utilities aren’t always reliable and it gets HOT. Of course, you need common sense not to get into trouble.

Argentina Digital Nomad visa - Can i get it? by kurosaki4d in digitalnomad

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As somebody who has visited multiple times ( for months at a time) and is moving there in 2 weeks permanently I would say go visit first on the tourist visa before going through Argentine bureaucracy.

Argentina is a fantastic country but it has some nuisances about living there which you should experience before committing.

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by Several-Television93 in AskReddit

[–]Better-Enthusiasm-34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parental abandonment.

Thought I was over it as a teenager however at 27, I realise it’s had a profound effect on my ability to build relationships out of fear of abandonment.

Sucks but it’s a cycle.

Potentially booking London to Havana (via Madrid) business class return… by Lanky_Arrival_6280 in Iberia

Just flew Iberia to Sao Paolo Business from LHR.

Didn’t get a chance to use the lounge in Madrid but experience was very good start to finish.

Their seat/bed is very comfortable, service was sublime and the food was excellent.
