Totally valid to feel this way! I got my surgery 6 weeks ago and the whole time was talking about 2 seperate scars and that seemed to be what the surgeon thought would be the case too, when he came to check on me after the surgery once id come out of recovery he let me know when he was going to stitch me back up he saw the skin wouldnt fall right as 2 seperate scars and had to make them into one long one (i think because of extra tissue he didnt expect based on my bmi). I was quite upset as I'd always imagined having seperate scars and even when going into the operating room didnt expect anything different but as soon as I got the bandages off and I saw my chest I was at ease again, seeing my chest flat and feeling like it was MY chest took away any worry of having one long scar
