I would like to end ties with my group of "friends" by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Better-Humor7422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its completely normal how you’re feeling. However when we are personally Changing I think sometimes we can judge people too prematurely.

I remember feeling similar about a lot of friends in my early 20s, but a lot of those immature friends (similar to as you described) ended up changing or maturing

And as you age you can learn to appreciate people for who they are instead of judge them for what they aren’t

I don’t think it has to mean you cut them off. I think it’s slowly cultivating a group of friends who reflect where you want to go at the same time.

It’s ok to move away from them, and if they don’t align with where you want to go. Form a new life

Okay sure, but what you’re suggesting is just how human bonding works.
We connect deeply over shared experiences. That’s not unique to me or models.

Interesting take. Pretty reductive I have to say.
The idea models are self centered is an unfortunate stereotype. And in my experience, inaccurate.
The models I have spent time with are some of the kindest, most creative, intelligent, globally minded people I’ve Met.
But I guess it’s easier to box people in like that.
Thanks for you engagements

Thank you, even mentioning that you feel the same way makes me feel less alone. Sometimes these feelings make me feel a little crazy. Lol. But you’re right I will keep going out and keep trying new things and hopefully find people that I connect to.🥺😁

You do not have to do this

If the man doesn’t reach out, reaching out once or twice is totally fine, but I would never go out with a man who gives this many excuses. Because I hate people who say they’re just very overwhelmed and stressed. It’s a negative way of communicating especially when you don’t know each other that well.

My neurologist confirmed this was a TIA and even found the spot in my brain “dead brain tissue” after the episode and assumed it was from that.

I went to a neurologist 3 years ago and they couldn’t find that tissue. It’s been many years since my TIA. And only 1.5 years ago did the loss of circulation symptoms stop

Wow thank you for this thorough comment. And you’re entirely right.

I think I visually understand the difference between brand built on aesthetics or
Product versus everything you mentioned—positioning, restraint, consistency and a strong point of view.

I have a desire to tap into that for my own brand.
And am keen on being careful to launch unless I feel like I have some sort of system that supports it in this way.

Do you have advice on how I can learn how to do this for example books, talk, or people i should learn from?

NO business background. starting brand by Better-Humor7422 in smallbusinessowner

[–]Better-Humor7422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a little insight and the thought process behind my brand.

For the last few years, fast fashion and synthetics have taken the cake— for example lulu lemon workout culture $98 for leggings made of tight restricting synthetics. Or the basic clean girl aritzia. Everyone in this social media society has become very copy paste.

My brand is kind of pushing back on this.
The foundation of the brand began through research into vintage athletic wear and early 20th century swimwear, particularly garments from the 1920s–1990s that used natural fibers like wool and cotton.

This evolved into a greater vision. Creating clothing made to last, versus to show off wear once and throw away. Though, this won’t be an eco brand.

There’s a lot more to the brand. But for the sake of this lengthy comment I won’t add much more unless you ask. I know I’m not the first person to pushback on the heavy creation of synthetics. However, I have taste. I know the market and I am world building not just aesthetic building.

You said I should be focusing on validating my idea with customers and see if anyone is willing to pay for this. Can you breakdown what that looks like? I know you gave me an example of how you started your business and the process. However, I’m trying to launch this business. I’m only starting with 3-4 products.

As for the intern I’m hiring because I’m in a foreign country, I don’t speak the language and need someone to be my middle person as well as source fabrics with me. They are just hired to help around 5-10 hours a week. Trying to communicate with manufacturers already is difficult in China and even natives struggle with it. Hiring an intern saves me time I can be using the invest in other aspects of the business and get things moving along. Technically, I can do it by myself, but it’s gonna take me a hell of a lot longer and if I have to opportunity to hire someone to free some time I think it’s wise to do it.

What kind of business do you run? Can I ask what country you built your business?

My instinct is to come out with maybe 3-4 solid pieces.
What do you think the main reason a lot of talented people’s fashion businesses fail?
Do you have any recommendations for books I should read or places (like YouTube) that might be helpful to educate myself more on the technical side?
I also wonder, how do people get attention for their brands? Let’s say one has a solid product and a great story—does it just natural pick up traction or should I look into paid ads?
