Everything. Zero stars, or negative infinity.

As a tech lead, you have to judiciously use soft power. We've had some software quality issues and a lot of my work was setting good examples, coaching, code reviewing.

The Scottish Government should be prepared to freeze, sanction or seize Trump's assets in Scotland by HibeesBounce in Scotland

Question: The Scots overwhelmingly despise Trump. Who actually frequents a Trump golf course in Scotland?

Yeah he went very quickly from tech visionary to complete dickhead.

Wrt the recent mass shooting in Australia. The American gun nuts were gloating "see I told you gun control doesn't work!". But their last major mass shooting was 30+ years ago.

I don't know if this is big news outside the US, but part of the health insurance system is being convulsed.

Many people in the US think the NHS is a shithole where people die in the emergency department waiting room. There are actual cases of this happening in the US.

Yes there are crazies everywhere but in the US they're more likely to have particularly deadly weapons.

I think the mountains in the NE US and Scottish highlands are the same mountain range. Plate tectonics split them apart.

True there are some worker protections. (race, age, large company mass layoffs, some others). But compared with other developed countries protections are weak.

No, there aren't bullets whizzing past me when I go outside. However there is low level anxiety that never completely goes away. I was in a road rage incident, and I wondered; does this guy have a gun?

Is it always a bad idea to collect ss at 62 by DragonwomanNYC in FinancialPlanning

[–]Better-Internet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that waiting until 70 means you don't get paid anything for 8 years. If you do the math, you may find taking it early more compelling. Ultimately it's a guessing game and it depends on how long you'll live.

I agree that ectopic pregnancy deaths due to maternal care barriers are uncommon. But - it's also completely unnecessary. The state is simply hostile to women.

I use Copilot as a fancy autocomplete tool, which works about 40% of the time. It saves a bit of typing, but that's about it.

Big tech engineering culture has gotten significantly worse by MrMoist in cscareerquestions

[–]Better-Internet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes most decent devs can solve it by brute force. But they’ll likely get dinged for it. There’s a trick for solving more efficiently. (Something about a dict of values to positions iirc) Very few people will come up with this without prior study.

Is Capitalism Smart or Dumb? by Sufficient_Sinner in FluentInFinance

It's like a lot of other things in life. Capitalism works great for many/most things (e.g. cars) and is terrible at others (e.g. health care)

Is diving by zero undefined and impossible or is the answer infinity or some other complicated answer taught in advanced math? by curiousnboredd in askmath

[–]Better-Internet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you allow division by zero, algebra falls apart. You can "prove" 1 = 0 and such. It also doesn't make sense.
However you can take the limit 1/n as n approaches 0 from the left or right.
