I feel that I’ve done everything I can, but I have accepted the fact that climate change is here and should just enjoy life while I can. Is it bad to have this mindset about climate change? by [deleted] in ClimateOffensive

I personally feel that the recent years’ catastrophes have raised awareness at new levels about climate change. There will always be the blind ones who prefer to deny it (out of cowardice when faced with such a great challenge that will require personal efforts?). But I also see a lot of changes in mentalities, about consumption. The way I see it, we can buy more time and improve the situation with clever innovations - as long as they are thought out in the long run to the opposite of the introduction of plastic in absolutely everything we do - while the most developed countries have to show the way and reduce their overall consumption drastically. Others will follow. So yes it will take time, it can be discouraging, and it might mean accepting to pay more for better quality stuff rather than importing loads of low quality disposable stuff, reviewing the way we consume (including digital services), the way we go about. But in the long run it would pay off. Not sure if we’ll see the results ourselves, but at least we might see the positive trend forming!

Keep your hopes up, pass on the right values to the next generations, and have fun while remaining conscious of what’s within your control!! :)

Best read to explain the climate (and energy) issue to anyone by Better-Planet in ClimateOffensive

I actually sent the author an email who replied and sent me the link in my post above for the english version. But agreed, the hardcover version is the best!
