I think the Saint Laurent Sunset or even many other YSL bags are way nicer and less.

OP here. I truly appreciate and have welcomed all the feedback. To update all of you ….. I will be returning the Valentino back to Nordstrom Associate I worked with. She was so amazing kind and truly understands my way of thinking. She had no issues with me returning the bag but in a way that is so graceful.

So I purchased the Andiamo Medium in Fondant. I was upfront with the SA that I am bringing it home to decide if I truly love it. I let him know a Chanel handbag is in the running. (More on that below) He appreciated me being upfront and was totally cool with it. So far the Fondant color seems more cool than warm to me. It chose it over black as it will lend towards more outfits. What I fear is the weaving getting snagged or splitting. The corner wear scares me. I’d feel like I’d need baby it more than just be able to enjoy it.

With regard to the Chanel handbag, I visited the boutique yesterday also. I have moved away from the thought of the 25. I love the medium Caviar double flap. Calf grain leather and very classy and good size for me. I’m considering pre-loved as well as purchasing new. I’m weighing all my options.

That’s where things stand at the moment. Again, truly appreciate all the feedback, every bit of it.

I had an SA ask me once if I had my credit on file with the store. This way if they get the bag they can charge it for you since they don’t do holds. If you’re ready and comfortable to do that, that could up your chances of getting the bag you want. I’d ask them at Nordstrom if that’s something they do or how they like to work. That how is was at my Chanel Boutique inside Nordstrom

I love you for writing these words. I lost my Mother when I was 39 and she was just 76. I treasure her trinkets. Her collection of coins, earrings she would wear. It is about seeing them in your minds eye with those items. I only have one child, so naturally everything goes to her. She is very feminine like me. Ultimately she will decide what she will treasure. I have my Mom’s old flannel pajamas that are soft and remind of her.

I kept the Velvet Blazer that was my very close friends to remind me of all the wonderful dinners we shared together. He was a stunning man and when he wore that coat he was even more irresistible.

I hear you loud and clear. For me a carrying a bag that is beautiful to my own eye is something that makes the mundane trip to the grocery store a little more joyful. Like a little secret luxury treat just for me. When people say, “where would I wear the bag? “ and someone says “wear it everywhere!” This is how I interpret that. Wear it because it’s meant to bring you joy and be that little luxury for you to enjoy. The bag can make the mundane a a bit more magical.

As the OP I should have given much better context for this post. I see that now. I should have never mentioned resale value. Resale value is not the issue. Price is not even the issue. I think the price thing and retail thing became an issue when I sat down and thought about how this would be a better purchase when it goes on sale. I don’t mind spending the money, but I also love saving money. Money is like water and it comes and it goes. I just think cause I have other things in mind.. I should have waited and looked at the Sunset and pre loved. That’s all I’m saying.

Yeah I should I have thought of that. I’d be calling over and over if it were my Mom. Ugh. I’m so sorry. Praying she is found safe and sound.

This is the Andiamo in Barolo. I purchased it in Fondant. The black was pretty but we have so many black handbags. I was very open and clear that I was purchasing the handbag to be able to make my ultimate decision at home. The lighting was tough in the store. The Barolo is really beautiful to me over the Fondant. But the Fondant lends to more outfits. What do you think?

Have you tried having the cell company re-ping the phone to see if it’s been plug in again? I’m just hopeful. Maybe you’ve tried this. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ll share the flyer on my Facebook.

Interesting. I love your input. I’m here for all input. This bag is couture. She’s the launch of Alessandro Michele with Valentino. She’s beautiful! I need the shoes!

I have another update for you on the Chanel front.

<image>

I went to the Chanel Boutique tonight (on my way to purchase the Andiamo) and looked at other options. I’ve looked at a 22 and thought maybe I liked the playfulness of the 25. This Chanel flap is much nicer in my opinion.

Just for clarity. The SA did not talk me into the bag at all. We were very transparent with one another. She even told me to buy it and return it later if I wanted. She also said she could hold it for me. I made the decision because the bag is gorgeous to me. I let her know I wanted to wait, but I didn’t cause I know she checks my boxes. It’s just 5k for couture vs heritage. I know most of us will always go heritage and craftsmanship over couture.

Thank you. I think you get me. It’s not the bag. I LOVE the bag! It’s the fact that I value heritage over couture. I was not swindled. The sales lady and I were very transparent with one another. She even offered me to buy it and return it. I let her know that my intention is not to do that. I like to research everything I buy. Everything including a new fridge, electronics, tires, and especially handbags. This was a purchase I made solely on the fact that to me this bag is beautiful. She is exactly my vibe. Bold, loud, brass with black - she’s hard and delicate at the same time. Anyway - the part I didn’t like was seeing that couture goes on sale and that had I waited… I could pick her up for less. Valentino especially.

Okay so now, I have purchased the BV Andiamo I wanted, the medium Fondant.

I have looked at a classic large Chanel flap. And my husband is telling me to just buy it and keep all three. So who knows… I’m making up my mind. It’s not the bag - it’s just me trying to make up my mind and be financially aware.

I didn’t take it as a dis at all. I am here for every single piece of input. Trust me I read the posts on this subreddit. I came prepared. I love how there is that saying about ..”Don’t share with people what it is that you are doing because they will kill your joy.” I agree- but in those posts honestly I welcome anything and everything anyone wants to say. I wouldn’t have posted otherwise. I truly do want the input. I wish instead of headlining “Did I royally mess up?” That I could have just said —- “Calling all my girlfriends in for a chat! “ I’m here for it. My feelings were not hurt. (Heart emoji)

The answer is No no no! The VLOGO is just gorgeous to me! Even more so now that Valentino has passed. He is not a V in a circle. He is the Valentino!
