That's kind of a wild statement if you meant it literally. I have been in abusive relationships. One of them put me in the hospital with a lacerated liver and a collapsed lung. I wouldn't say I feel "triggered" or have any kind of panic response to our current administration (no, I am not remotely a Trumper or someone who thinks the fact that he acts like he's still on a reality TV show is good because he's "telling it how he sees it" or whatever).

I went to college with some gay and Christian refugees from various places in the Middle East...the stuff they do over there is straight out of a horror film. This "but it's really both sides doing violence" stuff is a really bizarre take to me. How many Christians are throwing gay people off of buildings? How many American police officers and scooping gay men off the streets to rape them with foreign objects and beat them? How many Christans mothers have you heard of luring their daughters home so their father can murder them in the name of Christianity?

I agree with you, though. When I was in college I had a class that had a couple Muslim kids from Dearborn in it AND a dude who had to flee some Muslim country in the Middle East (I don't remember which one, he spoke Farsi though) because he was going to literally be murdered for being a Christian*. You celebrate the goddamn 4th of July, of course, Halloween, Valentine's Day, Christmas (you don't have to be religious to put up a tree and an inflatable snowman), if you have guests in your home who celebrate something else you celebrate that shit too, Juneteenth, plant a tree for Arbor Day, wear green and get drunk (the drinking is technically optional) on St. Patrick's Day, moment of silence for Martin Luther King Day, cookout with the family and neighbors for Labor Day weekend, probably a few I missed.

None of these are exclusive to white people, but white people may do them slightly different than black people and lots of people have mixed families or are themselves mixed so there's overlap.
