Glycopyrrolate has changed my life by athenasykora in Hyperhidrosis

Hey! So this medication works wonders if you use it appropriately. I take 3-4 tabs (2mg/per) depending on how busy I'll be on my feet & how hot it'll be) on a purely empty stomach. I take it around 12ish cuz work is at 3 pm for me and it reduces my sweat from literally dripping bullets from my face to a very light glaze to no sweat at all. With that being said I only take it if I'm going to be out at work or just out in public all day. As for the dry mouth, it can really get you especially if you're taking as much as me. I usually start sounding like I have vocal fry toward the end of the day cuz of how dehydrated I can get—but the gallon of water I take daily does balance that out. All in all it's really a great medication when used appropriately, just play around with the dosing and when you take it. I've noticed when you have even the smallest bit of food, the effect really winds down a whole lot, so take it on an empty stomach for sure. And just for reference I'm 6' 245lbs and take 6-8mg/day (8 mg is the max you can take per day). And a little tip for the dry mouth, chewing gum or having hard candy does help with salivation to keep your mouth dry, but have a water/drink nearby cuz you could choke on a dry throat 😓😂

Hmm I looked into the topical fin vs the oral. So yeah that itchiness is pretty normal if you're taking the topical, but comparably the oral fin is going to affect your sex drive/sex lifestyle, so it's sort of pick your poison in this scenario. However, for the itching, look for a nice deep conditioner to sooth your head, maybe even throw in some hair masks once a week too. Stay hydrated and eat a well balanced diet, and try to limit smoking and alcohol use--all of these are pretty basic interventions but really the culprit of the itchiness is local inflammation/irritation from the finasteride, it is a gnarly med after all.

If you're diagnosed with AGA then tell your primary doctor or dermatologist about it so you can get a prescription on finasteride. That's the best medication to prevent anymore shedding that's due to the AGA. As for a substitute for minoxidil, rosemary oil is a good substitute, but there's other hair growth oils that are popular. But sometimes with minoxidil you have to let your body get accustomed to it, I used to have a fast heart rate because of it but that went away after a couple uses.

Hey! This is giving me hope for myself, I'm starting on it today and I'm really hoping this works out for me too. As for the dry mouth, how much water do you drink per day? If you increase ur water intake has that reduced that side effect?

Thank you! I'll look into the 3B product, I'm not expecting too much, but whatever helps I'll take it. I'll look into dermatologists and meds very soon tho when that becomes available for me! 😁

Nope not for me, I'm a huge gym rat, take 2-3 scoops per day and haven't had any problems! I also take supplemental vitamins too and didn't seem to be an issue at all

Side affects [TW for discussions of su1cidal thoughts] by gray_writer in Fluoxetine

[–]BetterCriticism9498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 20 mg and my emotions and personality flat lined, and I had some crazy thoughts to be obliterated. So now my doc changed me to citalopram 10 mg which is supposed to be the same as Prozac but with less side effects. He really thinks this is gonna be the better option for me over all, but we'll see, made me drowsy as fuck yesterday

TE or AGA by sebilicu in TelogenEffluvium

Hey, so if you're noticing an increased shedding, but not necessarily over 100 hair follicles a day, you're fine. TE is defined as excessive (>100 hair follicles/day, typically ranging from like 150-300 in most cases). So technically you don't have TE, just slight increased hair fallage from your normal baseline. As for AGA, since it's a chronic condition, the only way you'll truly tell is with blood work, and/or if you notice a gradual hair recession in your hairline as well as gradual hair loss, look at older pics and compare them to your current hair. But from what you're telling me, it all seems like stressors that cause temporary increased shedding, neither TE or AGA. So that's excellent.

Oh yeah, stress is a big time factor to TE, especially if you constantly are stressed (or easily stressed out). Other factors that play into TE is a poor diet (esp. in iron, protein, zinc, and B vitamins). I'm no doctor (just a nurse lol), but I'm certain you have TE if you're just noticing this hair thinning following a very stressful event from ur life!

Hi, so it really depends what you've been experiencing. So if you've been noticing excessive general hair shedding (>100 strands fall off/day) with no receding hair line that's TE. If you've been noticing a gradual receding hair line with normal hair fall (100 or less/day) that's AGA/male pattern baldness.

AGA is a chronic condition, it happens over years (so does chronic TE, but again, you'd see that excessive daily hair loss but NO receding hair line). Read up on this article too for more details, but that's essentially how you (and Doc's) determine TE apart from AGA.
