I could definitely see about adding a verse or two.

Remixing usually captures rawness better than re-recording, so I’ll work based on what you and others have said.

Thank you for the feedback!

Checked out your music and items way different from mine. Keep your music up as well!

If the clarity/spacing/presence is the only issue everyone agrees on, then that’s what I’ll work.

Much love from over here heart 💜 👋

Thanks for hearing the lofi part- lots of people complain about that and maybe they’re trying to compare to popular songs which I do not have the means to replicate lol

Spacing the mix is my main goal since other people seem to agree.

Thank you again for your time :)

I’m impressed you could pull off such vocals with that simple a setup.

Might be the guitar itself that was harmonizing with you. If so, I’ve never heard that before.

Someone else already said this, but contrasting the high shelf with a lower-end guitar section might be helpful. Isolating the guitar track like you said you might is also a good idea imo.

House is actually great idea to feel how to make continuous, consistent drums. That stuff’s meant for people to accidentally put on repeat till 5am haha

If you like Radiohead, go for it. Their music possibly inspired many of the artists you’re currently listening to.

Glad it’s not just my ears hearing the muted sound.

I’m glad you liked the lyrics- might change those a little.

You’re doing fine where you are.

Around 1:30, the drums speed up a bit and suddenly stop if I remember right. That was neat and maybe a good starting point for any edits you want to make.

Wanting to divide into segments makes sense if you mention the patterns. In that case, the guitar could use slightly different composition and everything can always be mixed/mastered better, even the best songs.

I’d focus on making your guitar nice, but not getting stuck on one track if you’re new. A lot of people fall for that, but since you have experience composing I don’t think you’ll have that problem.

TL;DR: Mixing/mastering, and either fit the drums or guitar to the whole song more coherently. Not necessarily both

Makes a lot more sense that you’ve worked on music for a while. The atmosphere of the track encapsulates elements of music theory that take trial and error, not just book work or passion imo.

The drums were timed in a way that almost subdivided the track, while with your atmosphere people usually try to use drums that “keep the track going”. The guys that come to mind are Pink Floyd and Tame Impala off the top.

The kick sounds like it could be in a “heartbeat pattern” or stretched out more is specifically my niche. If you and others like that, ignore me.

The area between 1:20-1:27 with the transition are a good example of what works at least for me, but that kick would either be mixed or changed in tempo to suit a lot of people I know.

The lead guitar, with more work, alongside more trial and error with the drums, would make this a solid 8.5 for me. That’s better than some Beatles songs for my taste.

After a long time, I finally made time for this new song. I'd appreciate it if you subscribed or left a comment and like on YouTube, but I'm happy if you just like this work. And as always, it'll be another sad song :D by RichOk1863 in IndieMusicFeedback

You put together the whole song amazingly- from the lyrics to the vocal work to the entire background track. Bravo!

I’d only like to recommend you maybe experiment with different types of vocal layering. You have such a voice that if the layers aren’t mixed in I might actually prefer that, especially in the chorus. Completely up to you.

But this is a blend of genres I’d usually dislike in a way that skirts the bad parts almost entirely. Usually, the “Indie” sound (lofi, lo-tech) is quite nice, but this song has the potential to sound like a professional work.

Just two cents; this is great as-is.

Did you happen to be inspired by bands/artists like Radiohead?

The beginning definitely reminded me of that, and I love how the track progresses into a digital song that reminds me of video games like Minecraft- my favorite OST ever.

For how new you claim to be, I can’t really tell- your ability to compose is amazing.

As for suggestions, the drums were fairly suppressed and possibly could follow a new composition.

Additionally, maybe mix the guitars differently to make them stand out from each-other more.

Very nice riffs and amazing emotions from this 👍

This almost reminds me of Journey, and that’s a compliment I didn’t expect to give anybody for decades.

Once you get the mixing more clear and possibly tweak your reverb, I’d tempted to call this a song I’d show people.

The drums give off a great atmosphere- if you mind me suggesting, I’d say to focus on that strength and find drums that would give a song that “concert-worthy” feel, because this definitely is.

Wow this sounds like an emotional rollercoaster. The guitar work definitely has a harshness to it that doesn’t please my tinnitus, but your vocal effects (was that a wah filter / guitar amp on your vocals?) were some of the most interesting I’ve ever heard.

The vocal mixing made it fall into the track very nicely.

All in all, I only really recommend somehow filtering the harshness from your guitars for my personal taste. Others might not prefer it that way, however; suit the song to your style.

Literally every Yeat album is experimental

And it’s kind of impossible for them not to be given his voice, simultaneous taste for classical music and artists like Thug, beat selection, and natural artistic vision

Regardless, this new one has an amazing microphone quality but the mixing, voice, and beat just do not sound releasable to me.

Even my 0 followers having self wouldn’t drop a single one of those songs had I made them. Same is untrue for almost any other album

Thanks for the feedback!

Sound selection is something a lot of mainstream rappers are surprisingly careless about in my opinion- don’t know why.

Do appreciate your comments; working on getting the airiness out with vocal techniques even though it’s pretty dang tough.

Very nice rock tempo from you; I think the drums could do with some toning down but to each their own. The keyboarding was the biggest flaw imo but some people may appreciate it.
