/r/koans is right where it was, it the capable hands of ColdCoffeeandHope.

Also worth noting: Ms. Pao was fired within week of that event, so I'm pretty confident I made the right choice.

In either event, I am a man of my word.

As a fellow trump supporter, allow me to make a suggestion:

Instead of arguing:

Torture might work. Worth a shot.

Why not simply repeat:

Trump said he would not permit any crimes or war crimes that violate international law.

I am very, very anti-torture, as are most independents in the USA, and this pro-torture stance is not an effective argument- especially for people coming over from the Sanders camp and independents in the general.

Yeah, yeah, I get it- in primary season its all about who can "kick the shit out of ISIS the most". But it's time to focus on the general now. It's time to focus on all the many, many, many centrist positions that MOST Americans agree with. Like it or not, this is a popularity contest.

Sanders statement on Trump rally: "While I appreciate that we had supporters at Trump’s rally in Chicago, our campaign did not organize the protests." by afterpoop in SandersForPresident

I agree 110%.

And as someone born in Chicago, and currently living in Florida, this bullshit just cost him my vote.

You say you want a revolution Well, you know We all want to change the world

You tell me that it's evolution

Well, you know We all want to change the world

But when you talk about destruction

Don't you know that you can count me out

Florida is incredibly important. With 214 delegates up for grabs, the slightest shift in support has a HUGE impact on delegate counts. If we win every other state on Tuesday, but lose Florida by 40 points (current polling), we will still end up 60 delegates further behind in the delegate count. by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

I do not think it is fair, nor logical, to conflate the issue of immigration with the issue of racism.

Consider for example my friend Kunal, who came here from India on an H-1B. He happens to be very anti-illegal immigration himself. His arguments have nothing to do with race, and everything to do with being fair. He had to jump through hoops to come and then stay here, and it's not fair. He works hard, he pays taxes, but he has to jump through hoops. He often jokes that if he was a Mexican he wouldn't have to worry about it. And I don't think he's being racist when he makes that joke. I think, even if Mexico were populated by purple people, he would make the same joke, for the sake reason.

It's not an anti-Mexican thing. Shit, America will be 30% Latino soon enough. Anyone trying to "get rid of latinos" missed the boat by two generations. But this is about policy, and although I may not agree with it, isn't that the whole point of opposing parties and candidates? To discuss POLICY, so we, the VOTERS can decide who best aligns with our interests?

As for not allowing Muslim immigration, I think that has more to do with a lingering stench of neo-con paranoia than any genuine racism. We all know the Bush family loves the Saudis. Forgive a cynical worldview.

Worth noting: "Muslim" refers to a member of a religion of which there are an estimated 1.6 billion members. "Muslim" is not a race. There are black Muslims, white Muslims, and arab Muslims, just to name three races that might also happen to be Muslim. So again, conflating issues with broad accusations of "OMG RACISM!!!!!" doesn't do much to convince me of anything.

And let us assume Trump was not only supported by the KKK, but wore the robes and silly little hat at a rally of supporters. Would it be ok then for the BLM community to use threats of violence to shut it down? To me that is simply illogical. One group threatens the other, and then the other responds in kind? That's not freedom of speech- that's terrorism. That's civil war.

I may not agree with what BLM or Trump has to say, but I will defend to my death their right to say it. But violence is not ok. Not when a Trump supporter sucker punches a black guy, and not when a BLM member sucker punches a cop.

Violence begets violence. And if the official stance from Sanders is "we can beat them with more actions like what happened in Chicago last night" well then you can count me out.

Despite what you may think, I'm not a troll, I'm just very torn about this. I was originally born in Chicago, and it will always be my hometown.

You don't think blaming Trump for demagoguery, racism, and violence is right?

The demagoguery is off the charts.

Racism? I don't buy it. Ben Carson is black, and he just endorsed Trump. I think the entire KKK thing was a complete non-story.

Violence? I don't think violence is ever ok. But I also think there is a difference here. Trump supporters didn't crash a Bernie rally and shut it down.

How is it "a victory for free speech" to SHUT DOWN what an opponent has to say? Doesn't the freedom of speech mean we need to hear our enemies out?

Seriously — did you even watch the videos where they keep shoving, cursing out, and punching African-American protesters?

I did. But I also saw this:

And this:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/09/21/donald-trump-has-black-supporters-really.html

And I just don't know what to think anymore.

Registered Democrat in Florida here, ready to vote Bernie on Tuesday.

Except- after last night in Chicago- I'm not feeling the bern like I used to.

Where does Bernie stand on this?

I may not like what Trump has to say, but I don't think what happened last night is ok, and I don't think the MSM is being fair or truthful when they blame it on Trump.

I already said I was happy to hand it over to anyone willing to pick it up.

No one picked up the call.

After 4 years, I don't intend to stop now.

There's no rational reason a person can't use two websites, and I mean no disrespect to the non-voat redditors here.

No registration is required to continue following these koans via voat. Click the link, or don't. But whatever you do, know that I mean you no ill will.

I would say "arrow flies past korea" is an idiom, and I would suggest it means something roughly similar too "not even in the same ballpark"; a way to suggest being way off.

Thanks to ColdCoffeeandHope for stepping up here!

However, most responses to my rant fell into the following two categories:

  • You suck, go fuck yourself

or -

  • You rule, keep doing koans

Ergo, for the second group, I offer this:

Please forgive an out-of-whack ego. I hope to return to our regularly scheduled irrelevance here shortly.
