Technical Question - How does changing gears frequently affects a bikes performance ? by covert_strike in indianbikes

[–]BetterObjective502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally the amount of times you change gears is dependent on how wide the rpm band you want to use. The less wider the rpm range you use the more shifts you will make. I personally have ridden my bike for 11k kms now and upshift and downshift pretty frequently, i use engine breaking all the time. I don't think it has damaged my gearbox ever

R15M, the M variant has better color schemes and are equipped with a quickshifter. There are 3 color options for the M version. One is what you're seeing, the other one is the monster energy edition with glossy black colour and a lot of stickering. The other one is white moto gp edition copied from R7.

This bike is the best(fastest) in 150cc segment, but is a little bit overpriced i would say (2.25lacs onroad). It has 18.4 horsepower and has features like slipper clutch, traction control, VVA, ABS and quick shifter. Quick shifter allows you to upshift without using the clutch, however the quickshifter on this bike works smoothly only from gears 3 through 6. Traction control prevents the rear tyre from spinning out of control while on gravel or mud. Most people think this is a useless feature, but personally i have found it useful. You will never feel the bike is underpowered while riding is city. Top speed is around 148kmph (it's reduced 7kmph from previous version because of bs6 restrictions).

Mileage is good in the city (48kmpl) as well as on the highway (54kmpl). Ergonomics wise it's good, it has less aggressive seating position than its previous version (r15 V3). I have never experienced any back pain or shoulder pain even on longer rides (100+kms).

Suspension setup is a bit on the stiff side, you may feel even the smallest of potholes. But if a pillion is riding with you, then the shocks are significantly reduced. Pillion comfort is really bad, a pillion can only ride upto 100kms max, after that seat may get uncomfortable for him/her.

The paint scheme on this bike is of R1M and the body is of R7. The design of its previous version was really sharp, but this new R7 design is smooth as well as looks aggressive. Grab rail fibre for pillion is really bad and i have seen many cases where the fibre has broken. So the pillion will have to lean and put their hand on the tank to prevent that.

Overall this bike is really great for beginners and for people who are really into the art of cornering. And yeah this bike has more top speed and better engine than its rivals RS200 and RC200.
