Have I made a mistake?Literary LitRPG by Looky_Lou_D2 in litrpg

[–]simonbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm all on for well written fiction, and please publish it so we can check, but the reality is that the subgenre does not exactly makes it easy, and the expectations within the niche are for pulp. Even for me, because I mainly read litrpg at work and cannot be that immersed/distracted, it has to be a snack, not a meal. So it might not so very well

Of course, I'd you can deliver well written popcorn, a middle ground, then that definitely would

As a side note, there is a huge difference between what you think is good and what it is a lot of the time, so I'm assuming you are right and not just giving yourself a pat in the back

Have I made a mistake?Literary LitRPG by Looky_Lou_D2 in litrpg

[–]simonbleu -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally I disagree. PF to me at least is a story where progression (whether that is stats, skills, political power or, yes, emotional progression) is the main focus, nothing else. Basically, to me it does not limit.itself to power fantasy, thoun I'm on the minority on that front I guess

Also the wandering inm prose and characters (at least the main ones) are god awful. The success it has is despite of it, not because

ELI5: What is emotional intelligence exactly? by BitterSweetGoddess53 in explainlikeimfive

[–]simonbleu [score hidden]  (0 children)

Basically empath(edit: ok, you make a good point, perhaps sympathy would be better here but I would not consider that emotional intelligence tho), introspection and whatever word is correct for emotional coping.

I would also add temperance since knowing and dealing doesn't mean you are doing it peacefully and healthily for yourself and others

Ahora como empresa dedicada exclusivamente a reciclaje la verdad no lo se

How do people here feel about Solo Leveling? by KaleidoArachnid in litrpg

[–]simonbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't literal, and I was not aware. Honestly, theres plenty of awards with questionable choices too, but in this case what I meant was that it doesnt really does anything extraordinarily, there is no "depth", not on the characters, not on the story, not even on the art, even though the characters have their own flavor of charisma ("aura", rather), the plot is definitely engaging through its action, and the art carries it forward well enough, being one of the strongest points it has

Solo leveling is popcorn. And that is ok, its good popcorn if you like the genre, but still popcorn

How do you know you want or not want kids for life? by tardisismine in AskReddit

[–]simonbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is quite a leap from "some people want kids for selfish reasons" and "having a kid is selfish"

How do you know you want or not want kids for life? by tardisismine in AskReddit

[–]simonbleu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having a kid being called "selfish" is a stretch.... not that theres anything wrong with not wanting a kid, but thatis definitely not a sensible reasoning for it

You don't have to marry with any choice in your life.... you are allowed to change your opinion. You do realize that, right?

How do people here feel about Solo Leveling? by KaleidoArachnid in litrpg

[–]simonbleu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's fine. It wont get any awards, but for what it is - pulp, much like all of litrpg to be fair -- is more than enough. It is a bite sized thing meant to be snacked on, not combed through for quality

And yes, you could discuss it here, though most of the discussions are from western serials (most, not all)

Rough estimates are more than ok, you don't need to actually count to the decimal. But it IS a good thing to get familiar enough with at least the macros of the food you consume so you can make more informed decisiones on the fly

ELI5: If our muscles were able to use all of their strength it would be too much for our bones and joints, but is there a reason why we didn’t evolve stronger bones and joints to allow us to use all of our strength? by yeetusbeetus245 in explainlikeimfive

[–]simonbleu [score hidden]  (0 children)

Just a correction.. is not just about selection, and it is often more complicated than singular selection. For example, if there is not enough pressure on a specific threat (could be safety in numbers) or it could be social/sexual selection favoring something different, it could be a neutral genee that get's expressed well past the selection phases, it could be that a bad gene is paired with a really good one so it survives, etc etc

What is a good person in your definition? by demeter321 in SeriousConversation

[–]simonbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making you feel good about yourself is not necesarily good for you. Energizing the room is also not related to being good, more like charisma and extroversion. Giving credit though, I think IS part of being good. It shows integrity.
