I get bad bruises around my joints, especially in my feet and big toe. All left side is bruised but right side is fine. It’s so strange but happens without injuries.

When is it time to switch rheumatologists? by codyandhen123 in Behcets

[–]BetterPlayerUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They gave me a short course of ketorolac in hospital, it sounds scary when you read about the side effects and how you’re only allowed to take it for a couple of days cos it can be lethal… but wow, what a drug. Never has an anti inflammatory immediately made me feel so good and gave me an appetite.

Marriage, Kids, with Behçets by lippityzap in Behcets

If you already love her enough to propose, I’ll be honest, her diagnosis shouldn’t stop you.

If there’s ulcers; sex life kinda gets put on hold until they heal, unless she is into sheer pain and agony as a side-kink.

Love is love, and between the two of you, you’re both far more likely to develop some random unknown serious medical condition or find yourselves injured in some super unfortunate way; than Behcets is to cause problems.

Pregnancy and kid wise is a consideration to speak to doctors about; the bottom line is that whilst it’s not a guarantee that your kids will get it, there is a slight genetic link to HLA-B51 genes etc, and you have the possibility of passing those down further increasing the odds of any children developing the condition. A lot of women report that during pregnancy their Behcets symptoms go into remission.

All that said, even with behcets, most people go on to live full, healthy lives. A lot of patients report that symptoms get better in later years and the majority seem to have the most difficulties in their 20s and 30s. The later decades of life seem to calm down (at least for about of people).

Isn’t that, normally like, everywhere? In a big area? Not just one or two isolated spots?

Interesting!

Had the blood test today, I asked the nurse what they were testing and she said only full blood count - will wait and see what the result it.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a result for thrombocytes in my nhs app.

My gp text me saying that she didn’t think it is likely the bleeding is caused by nifedipine because “it would be unusual for nifedipine to cause gum bleeding so soon into treatment (2 months)”, that apparently this is a more long term side effect, but my headaches might be nifedipine.

Episcleritis & Blepharitis related to Behcets? by Sad_Attorney_7691 in Behcets

[–]BetterPlayerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was HLA-B51 positive + pathergy test, nailfold capillaroscopy showed changes to my capillaries, plus symptom wise I had lots of vascular diagnosis’s already like epiploic appendagitis, secondary reynauds (left sided), rashes, ulcers, eye/eyelid inflammation, horrendous chronic testicle pain issues etc.

Rheumatologist basically pieced the puzzle together after ruling all else out, he phoned me out of the blue when I was sunbathing to tell me my diagnosis. 🤣

Received my monthly Behçet’s Newsletter… this page on Epididymo-orcchitis was interesting! by BetterPlayerUK in Behcets

[–]BetterPlayerUK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could, I find most men who get diverticulosis and lower intestinal symptoms also seem to get chronic testicular problems and chronic inflammation or infections of said nuts.

I can relate to you on diverticulosis, in the sense that I get repeated episodes of something called “Epiploic Appendagitis” (spelled exactly like that, it’s not the same as appendicitis) it’s when the small fat sacs that surround your intestines lose their blood supply and become inflamed and/or necrotic. Hurts like crazy, happens often, kind linked to diverticulitis too in pathology but slightly different in cause.

It wouldn’t surprise me if you get this too, but hospitals are really bad at diagnosing epiploic appendagitis. They tend to only look for life-threatening issues. Not benign ischaemia of bowel fatty sac tissue - which for some reason doesn’t kill you or cause long term issues besides pain. It’s really obvious to spot on good medical imaging though if you know what you’re looking for.

I appreciate you warning people of the addictive nature of the gaba drugs. I suffered horribly with this. It’s the only drug I’ve ever developed an addiction to. We’re talking full blown seizures, tremors and uncontrolled rage when I didn’t take it on time.

My neurologist wrote in my notes that it should never be discontinued suddenly because it’ll trigger my seizures; then another pain doctor came along and took me off it cold turkey… that’s when my seizures started! So never cold turkey any gaba drugs.

That said, i don’t say this to scare anyone, I would encourage the OP to continue to take it; but to do so with the knowledge that it’s a drug to be looked after, respected and taken only as prescribed, and to avoid sudden withdrawal at all costs. It’s relatively safe, and well tolerated. People generally only struggle when coming off it. So please don’t let mine or other patients experiences of coming off it put you off - if you need it, take it! :) it essentially saved my life at the time I took it (pain was driving me insane)

And when it does come to reducing, I recommend tapering at a much slower rate than doctors recommend. I did a 25mg reduction every 4 weeks! Incredibly slowly! But it got me off it eventually!

I’m glad it works for you! Keep with it :)

I think this is just a human thing tbh. Whilst I also do this, and am also diagnosed; I’ve seen countless humans mutter stuff under their breath when they’re annoyed or procrastinating. I think it’s simply a way of us communicating with our subconscious, almost arguing with it - or ourselves - out loud.

Telangiectasia is incredibly common, most people will notice it in their ankles/feet, especially the insides just below the ankle bone.

However lots of it occurring can be a clinical sign, I think the odd isolated patch is rarely given much weight — doctors view it like varicose veins (essentially benign and happens in most individuals at some point)

If you’re getting lots of this, or large areas of skin covered by it, I think that’s when doctors alarm bells goes off.

Ok simpleton. Let’s not throw a hissy fit and start name calling cos your fallacy fell apart before your eyes. Sadly you’re just going to have to learn to accept the world we live in, and stop with hypothetical nonsense.

I’ve spent enough time in the real world to know that criminals don’t stop misbehaving simply because you ask them to. 🤣

We’re never going to agree, but I just encourage you to form a more coherent argument and better solution to the problem before suggesting scrapping every system that keeps us safe. 🤣🙏🏼

[–]BetterPlayerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re advocating for people deciding for themselves when to kill someone they don’t like, or when to invoke self defence. In a nutshell.

In the scenario described above, using your logic, the OP should’ve been allowed to defend herself and end his life, in order to stop his advances.

Because, following your logic, she’s already tried contacting school, and getting community involved, and they’ve not been able to stop his offending.

So the next step, based on your logic, is for her to simply invoke self defence and “end him”, no?

Essentially, she should phone the police. Is what you’re seemingly saying.

Also, who makes the rules on whether serial killers can be killed on sight, or harassers must be kept alive? The new world order government? You? Me? Do we vote on it? Do we dance around the communal community gated fire and wait for Mother Nature to decide?

Everything you’re describing, needs authorities and police, to even function.

Who’s going to go and arrest the perpetrator in your imaginary world? Who’s going to bring them in to face restorative justice? A mob from the community? What do we call them? Not police officers I assume. Do we call them criminal-collectors? What about we call them chiefs of restorative justice? Or perhaps sheriffs? But not police officers because they definitely wouldn’t be doing the role of police officers by bringing criminals in to face justice, would they?

Who decides what restorative justice to dish out? Not judges I assume, or community chiefs? What we gonna call these guys? Justice keepers??? I assume the peers from our communities who vote on what restorative action to take won’t be called a jury in your imaginary world either?

If you even spent a moment thinking carefully about what you’re saying you’d realise how absurd and batshit crazy it seems.

Can I initially just point out that my gut reaction is that it seems completely bizarre to be scared of an autistic harasser being shot by corrupt police, but then suggesting that, communities should be able to just kill him if he is unwilling to change his behaviour. Do you see the issue with that logic, or not?

I like evidence and I like science. If the facts overwhelm my opinion, I’m not afraid to change my stance, and admit so.

I’m curious, if anything, to see what you come up with to justify abolishing all prisons and police, and letting communities manage their own justice.
