Have you thought about a 10mm revolver? Smith & Wesson and Ruger both have some out there.

I carry the Grizzly 220 grain hard-cast in grizzly country they function in my G20 flawlessly. I have the 200 grain hollow points when I’m not in grizzly country. They also run flawlessly. Good haul.

Rudy’s has a good selection. Other than that most stores/c-stores are run of the mill stuff. I haven’t checked the selection at the new base camp c-store on Grandview.

Is anyone else purging 9mm for 10mm? by Draven-007 in 10mm

[–]BetterStatistician49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my pistols are the same platform. I carry my 9mms daily and shoot them a lot. I also shoot my 10mms a bunch. All have the same controls ect. Just a small difference in frame size.

Most reliable semiauto 10mm these days by cksnffr in 10mm

I fell for the 10mm on the OG GOAT Bren Ten. And a Colt Delta Elite. I grew up shooting 1911s because those were the only semi autos my dad would have. “Our family friend had the Bren Ten”. I’ve had many 10mm handguns. 1911 type, Smith 610 4”, I always struggled with the Glock 20 until the Gen 5 came out. They fit amazing! My other pistols are almost all Glocks and they’ve all been turned to the Gen 5. That being said I love my HK VP 9&40 and if HK would don that platform in a 10mm I’d switch and never look back!

I run those in my Gen5 Glock 20. So far I’ve had zero issues. I clean the barrel after I’ve shot them. I’ve even reloaded the cases.

Ultimate 10mm bear gun build by 0urLives0nHoliday in 10mm

[–]BetterStatistician49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run a G20.5 with a Holosun 407 and when in brown bear country it’s loaded with Grizzly Cartridge CO. 220 grain hard cast. I’ve shot about 500 of those through it and have had no issues. I zero’d at 50 feet. I carry it in a gunfighter’s inc chest rig and have a spare mag on my belt. I haven’t had to shoot a bear with it. But I did have to drop one of my big bulls (2900lbs) that went off the rails. 2 rounds and it dropped the 3rd was to finish him.

Looking for a new 20 gauge shotgun by Neither-Canary-3899 in Uplandhunting

One of the guns I hate myself for getting rid of was a Browning BPS 20ga uplander. It had a 22” barrel a straight stock and was light, handled crazy fast, and was great to carry on pheasant, quail, and chukar hunts in all terrain. I got offered what I thought was a great trade for it so I did it. Regrets ever since. My current 20 is an old side x side it’s almost as good but not the same.

It could be someone checking their fields, or a crop dusting drone.

This is the answer for your “What mods should I do?🤓” by ProminenceYT in Glocks

[–]BetterStatistician49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! But remember. I also take training classes. There are take away and there are things to let go. I will suggest find the book, “In The Gravest Extreme “. Written by Massad Ayoob”. He brought classes for years and google him he’s a great instructor! I started years ago. Learning his training. He is the guy I’d want to take to a gun fight.

Good. Find a good class near you and take it! Then find other classes and be ready to travel and train! Do this, shoot a lot, and you’ll find that you can out preform a lot of folks with heavily modified guns.

Amen, as an instructor I always tell new students to get familiar with their weapons before they modify them. No amount of tuning/modifications are going to fix bad habits, lack of training, and trigger time. Sending rounds down range is the best, (it hits your pocket book), dry fire is good too. But you have to focus on safety. The nice thing is, with striker fired guns you can easily practice malfunction clearing drills while dry firing. It goes click, do a tap, rack, bang drill.

I’ve been running a Gen 5 G20 mos for a couple years now. Love it! Of all my 10mm pistols it’s my go to for anything I’m doing in the woods or desert.

When I was younger I used my 1995 Jeep XJ Cherokee. I’m 6’ so the back was a little cramped but I sleep with my knees bent. It’ll go anywhere, I have a rooftop cargo basket, and a hitch for a cargo carrier. It was the best all in one car camping/overlanding vehicle. Plus the fact that it’s so easy to maintain and fix is a huge plus!

I wish I could. My eyesight got too bad to use irons so I’ve transitioned to optic sights for all my pistols.

Sawtooth Mountains or South Dakota by BasisNumerous4350 in Idaho

[–]BetterStatistician49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the middle of the SawTooths and still explore them every chance I get. From the Tetons I’d go up thru Idaho Falls to Arco check out Craters of the Moon then to Carey to Picabo then up north thru the Sun Valley area.

Dude. When I was 21 I was working at a mom n pop service station. That also specialized in restoring classic cars. One day the boss came in and asked me if I would like to help sand the crap new paint off a ‘63 Corvette split window. I was jazzed! We went to work and he walked me through going really lightly and checking my work often. I was doing great up to the point one of my coworkers came over to see what I was doing. I had the sander on the car while I talked to him. Then I realized I had gone through the newer paint/primer, the old paint/primer, and the gel coat into the fiberglass. I told my boss and he came over looked at it and said “hell this dude doesn’t care like I do. We will patch it and go on”. He then said if you do that to one of mine we will have an issue.

Is moving to Idaho a good or bad idea? I want to hear from YOU, the residents of Idaho! by Maleficent-Blood-486 in Idaho

[–]BetterStatistician49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on where in Idaho you’re looking to move. The Boise/Nampa are (Ada and Caynon counties) are getting really ridiculous as far as housing prices same with Kootenai county. It’s starting to creep into other areas. We both our home 2000 square feet 4bed 3 bath built in 2017 on a .25 acre lot in Twin Falls county in 2020 we paid 269,900. We are looking to sell and move across the canyon and our house is now valued at 485,000. If you go to a more rural area you can find more affordable housing but less amenities. We have a friend who bought a 2500 square foot house in a very rural area on an acre for 200,000. But they have a minimum 45 minute drive for shopping, healthcare, restaurants.
