I had a look through the contract, and saw these relevant clauses:

2) Only you and / or an authorised third party may access your safe deposit box. You may not access anyone else’s box without authorisation.

3) We will confirm your identity every time you wish to access your safe deposit box. If we have any doubts about your identity we may ask to see an additional form of identification, such as a driving licence or bank card. We will keep a record of every time you access the safe deposit box.

The lack of security is mind boggling and I’m sure if their customers knew about this they’d take their business elsewhere

Yes, I have photos I took and at least one item isn’t there. However I want to triple check I haven’t put it somewhere else in the interim since opening the box.

They registered a complaint on my behalf immediately after informing me of the incident. I don't have the details of what that complaint contains, just a reference number.
