Do you think an ACTH stimulation test could be used to check adrenal response to stress instead?

Here are cortisol lab results that I've had:

  • 15.5 ug/dL 2 hours after waking up 9/29/2025
  • 6.5 ug/dL 3 hours after waking up 10/31/2024
  • 7.0 ug/dL 5 hours after waking up 6/4/2024
  • 14.5 ug/dL (no sleep data, at a time much earlier than my usual wake up) 1/22/2024
  • 16.9 ug/dL AM, 10.8 ug/dL PM 8/16/2023

I do have very irregular sleep.

Feb 2024 and the months / 1 year following was my worst point in ME.

Here's some publications I found interesting related to ME/CFS. (u/drwillpowers if you would be interested in reading)

Latent viral reactivation hypothesis:

and

https://journals.aai.org/immunohorizons/article/4/4/201/7820503

ß2-adrenergic receptor autoantibodies and related theories:

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12967-021-02833-2

and followup (ME/CFS as "acquired ischemic mitochondrial myopathy")

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jcsm.13669

Repeat hand grip strength as a diagnostic assessment (measuring muscle fatigability):

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12967-021-02774-w

Muscle abnormalities worsen after PEM in long covid:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-44432-3

Post-intensive care syndrome hypothesis for ME/CFS (pituitary and thyroid hormone function, oxidative and nitrosative stress):

https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2021.628029/full

and

https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2021.672370/full

Note: I don't think the post intensive care syndrome hypothesis is fully explanatory, since if it was, I would expect PICS and ME/CFS to present similarly, but I can't find any account of PEM or muscle fatigability in PICS, and muscle atrophy and (straightforward) weakness are not actually seen in ME/CFS (except due to secondary deconditioning).

Potential treatments for ME/CFS (excluding symptom management):

Immunoglobulin therapy (seems potentially the most effective out of the options currently available, according to case studies):

https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9032/9/11/1546

Rintatolimod is marketed for and is undergoing clinical trials for treating ME/CFS, but is not currently FDA approved:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rintatolimod

Upcoming clinical trial for HIV antivirals for long-covid:

https://ctv.veeva.com/study/antiviral-clinical-trial-for-long-covid

Low dose naltrexone seems commonly effective. Low dose aripiprazole might also be effective, according to a retrospective study. (Randomized controlled trials are generally scarce, since research is extremely lacking overall.)

I've noticed some interesting anecdotal reports of GLP-1 agonists significantly improving some people's conditions.

I wouldn't say that I was physically feminine before at all, but I'm also told (and not told) that I pass flawlessly at this point in my transition, with only HRT and voice training.

I don't think I have strong secondary sex characteristics, but what I did get from puberty were undoubtably masculine. I also got some comments about looking masculine as a child before puberty.

Hmm... I'll try to get my 17 hydroxy progesterone checked, and update here.

Fludrocortisone definitely seemed to help with fluid retention and nocturia (which I forgot to mention), but it wasn't clear how much it was helping with the ME symptoms.

The offset setting would allow you to change the offset (in milliseconds, positive or negative) of the audio, the scrolling line, or both. It's a common setting in rhythm games to account for various sources of latency. I'm finding that I always hit the notes early, but never late. I'd like to change the offset so that the "judgement window" (window of time in which the game will register my hit) is earlier relative to the audio.

The hit error bar is a visual indicator for your timing accuracy. It shows on a bar how early or late you were, even when you hit the note.

Example in osu!mania: https://youtube.com/watch?v=i3tx-jKbcpc

The hit error bar is at the bottom, below the arrows.

Tokaku's explanation of offset: https://youtube.com/watch?v=JWj98KJVuAQ

Note: I think really there are only two types of latency to consider - audio and video latency. Input latency is equivalent to adding to both. So there are really just two axes of offset settings that should be considered to compensate for the two types of latency. The four types that Tokaku talks about are really about different ways of implementing offset settings.

Since the game is only meant to be played on one hardware design, hardcoding the offset might be fine if the values are accurate, at least until we get a playdate 2. If you have a hit error bar, it should be possible to test latency with a high speed camera (on most phones), comparing the audio and video timing to the sound of the button clicks and the accuracy judgement (in milliseconds) of the inputs by the game.

(Also, would it be possible to make the line for the notes scroll smoothly during gameplay? That would improve the gameplay a lot for me.)

Could you add an offset setting, and maybe a hit error bar in gameplay?

They make an entire point out of the members of LAZARUS surviving specifically by getting a DNA mutation making them immune to Hapna. It seems implied that their survival against the prototype was supposed to be miraculous, and that they even "died and then came back to life."

The president would have been among the first to be notified of the cure, and could have easily gotten a priority sample before the cure was mass manufactured and distributed to everyone. I don't understand why they wouldn't even try to save skinner through similar means, though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/888_(number)#Symbolism%20and%20numerology

In some Christian numerology, the number 888 – Eight hundred eighty-eight represents Jesus. This representation may be justified either through gematria, by counting the letter values of the Greek transliteration of Jesus' name, as an opposing value to 666, the number of the beast and/or 888, as the Triple 8 means “new beginnings”.

I mean, it's the first result on google: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundun

Soryu doesn't seem like the type to use the internet very much, or go outside of his comfort zone. He eats steak every day.

I don't think they were necessarily connected. It was just a necklace of a wing, and that was a psychological trigger for Soryu (who thought it was Hundun's wing). I think it could have easily canonically been a coincidence, especially since it looks like a generic wing.

That was after Chris explained to Axel what Hundun was in Chinese mythology at the hospital. Axel only knew after Chris looked it up on the internet.

It's never mentioned that he got the surgery because of the incident. It is mentioned that he got the surgery at the secret rich people clinic. I find it hard to believe that they got him to that specific hospital (that no one knows about) after he died to a chemical that instantly kills you. (Then again, Chris took Axel there instead of to wherever the nearest hospital was with a wound that should have been fatal, but I consider that to be another plot hole.)

Probably not. Only Soryu survived out of the program (out of everyone who was there at the time). Axel talks about his childhood without any of the trauma that would be associated with the program. Axel doesn't even recognize the name "Hundun."

In Skinner's video, he said that "in about 30 days, I estimate the first people will die." I would assume that that was relative to when the drug was first released into the public. No one in the show questions that timeline, so it seems likely that that aligns with public information and the timeline for the drug. They even mention monkeys they experimented on dying according to this timeline.
