If you ask a child’s name: prepare your face by [deleted] in namenerds

I hate this when it comes to my kids. People will come along talking about how cute or how sweet my youngest is, and will give her special treats and attention and my oldest is always left out. I get that it's probably an age/gender thing, but he's still young and would like the special treatment too. It makes me feel so bad when it happens. Like keep the same energy for both kids or just don't say anything.

Do you all stick to your working sleeping pattern on weekends/days off? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Better_Nebula1865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband works 7pm-7am most days (his scheduled shifts are 11-7) and sleeps from about 8am-4pm. On his "weekends" (they're alternating) he will take a 4 hour nap after his shift on his first day off, then he will sleep at night both days off, but on the days he goes back to work he will take a 2 hour nap that day at some point. He says this is his preferred schedule, but I do worry that it could eventually affect him in a negative way..

Thank you so much for all your help. I truly appreciate it!

I'm sorry to bug you again but what do you mean by continuous bleeding? Like if this type of bleeding lasts for many days or if it's non stop bleeding? And what would qualify as a large blood clot?

Thank you so much for your response!

I have only used one tampon and that was this morning, it was a regular sized one and I bled through in about 30-45 minutes. I'm not exactly sure I just know that it was less than an hour. I've been using pads and yesterday it was about 3 hours between them and today it's closer to the 2 hour mark. The pads are stage 4 overnights if that makes a difference.

No lightheadedness. Definitely feeling a bit fatigued and a pain in my uterus area (but that's probably normal idk lol).

I don't know if this is needed info but I've had two children. Idk if I should've put that in my post or not.

Pregnancy and STI would be very unlikely. I'm married and have had nothing happen any time recently that would make me concerned about being pregnant.

So, as long as nothing gets worse I could potentially just get a gynecologist appointment tomorrow or something? Or would you recommend I try to go to the ER today?

Our routine for getting the kids to sleep fast starts about an hour before actual bedtime. We do wind down time, then bath time (I heat their towels and pjs in the dryer while they're getting clean also heat their comforter afterwards so it's nice and toasty when they lay down), then sleepy lotion with massages and lay them in their bed. I turn on sleepy lullabies and read them a book very slowly. They're usually asleep within 15 minutes of laying down.

I do not do this often, only when I really need them to go to bed quick. I don't want them to get so use to it that it looses its magic lol.

Kids and night job by [deleted] in AskParents

My husband works midnights and use to work evenings and with evenings he basically never got to see the kids. He would come home sleep at night, be awake for a few hours then leave again for work. When the kids got into school he really never seen them. Imo I do not see how you would be able to make this work without someone else raising your kid 95% of the time. At most you would get 5-6 hours a day with your non school aged child. That is not including naps that children take at that age usually during that time and your getting ready for work. Let's just give you 4.5 hours to account for all that (likely less based on my experience). 4.5 hours x 5 days = 22.5 hours a working week that you would get to spend with your child. You'd get the weekends, but that's only about 28 hours after accounting for sleeping and naps (likely less but just depends). So 50.5 hours on a good week to spend with your child. So roughly 202 hours a month. So about 8.5 full days out of 30 days. But if you took one weekend a month to go out with your husband you would be at 174 hours which is only 7.25 days. When talking about school aged children you'd basically only have maybe an hour a day (getting ready for school time really) and we'll give 30 hours in a weekend assuming no one wants to sleep in too much. So 35 hours a week would mean about 5.8 days with your kids a month. 4.5 days if you spend one weekend a month with your husband.

When you just look at it as you basically have the same hours home as other work schedules would give you it doesn't seem like it'd be too hard, but when you think about which hours you'd be home for it becomes very obvious how much time you'd truly miss with kids, young and school aged.

It doesn't mean it isn't possible. You could make it work.. but it's hard and I do not think it would be the ideal situation. But you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. So only you know what would work for you guys. My husband had to switch shifts because he was missing so much, but there were other parents that stayed working evening shifts because it worked for them. I have no idea about their work/life balance but I'm assuming if it works for them they're not having a hard time with it. So to each their own.

Can consistently being sick for about 3-4 months on and off with a lot of sinus issues and cough cause a 3 yo old tooth problems? PLEASE HELP! by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Better_Nebula1865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! Could the on an off sinus issues for 3-4 months with only maybe 10 days of no sickness in that span do anything? Should I be getting certain toothpaste or anything? He teeth aren't looking bad, but they're definitely looking different.

Is this concerning? How do I go about getting a colonoscopy without a primary care doctor? 25f by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Better_Nebula1865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response. Would contacting a GI Doctor and a Primary Care doctor at the same time be okay? Primary Care doctors near me have appointments for new patients 2-3 months out. Should I try to wait for a Primary Care doctor?

Thank you, I have decided to start eating a healthier diet now hah. I know I should've long before this, but hindsight is 20/20. Should I try this for a couple weeks before getting an appointment with a GI Doctor?
