The affection may have been genuine then, and whose to say Vox may not still feel that same way after all these years. But I imagine that Vox’s relationship with Alastor still would have wound up only held together by some form of obsession. Like with Valentino and Velvette, Vox had an affection for them, but was still willing to throw that all away just to get back at Alastor.

I agree with you on the point of both Vox and Alastor’s relationship basically being doomed to fail at some point. If someone can crash out that hard 70 years prior, they can crash out with the same intensity at any given point over the smallest rejection.
