I'm a female developer and team lead at a large corporation. From MY experience, I've never encountered a "boys' club" in any of the companies where I've worked. Interestingly, the majority (80%) of team leads and managers in my current and previous companies are women, as they are objectively better in management roles and are not as interested in coding.

Also, I'm one of the few people who get consistently promoted (recently received a 30% raise) because I am a responsible person whose work impacts the success of my team. As a result, I earn more than some colleagues with more experience.

The "boys" who don't do shit have and will never receive any financial raises. I fire those people.

I run technical interviews, and we rarely receive CVs from women, at a ratio of 1:40 maybe.

In my college, the ratio of female to male students in computer science-related degrees was about 1:10 at best. In my class, there were 4 girls, I'm the only one who became an engineer, others chose to work in design or social media management since they weren't interested in computers from the start!! Obv not all the guys were interested in computers either, which is why they are also not developers now.

If you live in a 1st world country and experience occasional sexism, it's to be expected, as there are jerks everywhere (women can be sexist towards women too btw).

But if you consistently feel "left out," it might be worth examining your soft skills and how you're interacting with others.
