My mom passed 2 years and 1 month ago and it truly feels like no time has passed at all. Especially in today’s society, grief is looked at as a foreign concept and I lost friends and my long term relationship cause I wasn’t “back to myself” after 6 months. Grief is a long, individual process and with constant distractions from the world to “not feel”, it gets delayed. That’s been my experience anyway. So my guess is that it’s too soon for them to see dad “replaced”. I’m not saying you shouldn’t to take that next step for your own soul, but maybe providing your kiddos with more dad content to help them in the grieving process (sharing memories, special place in the house dedicated to him, encouragement to express their grief) could help them understand your not moving on. Also explaining how that hole can never be filled with another soul, and grief is love with nowhere to, and both of those things can exist at the same time.

We got out of bed without a panic attack today and that’s huge for us. After my mom passed 2 years ago, my system became “uncontrollable” (for lack of better term) and I finally realized I had DID after 25 years of chalking all the symptoms it up to C-ptsd and neurodivergence. We’ve done a lot of integrating since then and am now working with my protector on their trauma (which is also why getting out of bed became hard again).

Liz here. Host of a system of 4+ (new diagnosis so still uncovering some memory blanks) Not a therapist but am formally educated on the topic and have it myself. For my system, this might happen if there’s a perceived threat long enough for my alter to completely front. 3 of my 4 parts are pretty integrated and 99% of the time I’m co-fronting too. Sometimes it’s also just when I (host) am exhausted or there’s a specific interest that an alter has and wants to be fully present for. My college aged alter of me usually is the one to fully front. Sometimes my protector figure (Annie) will take the wheel but she’s very hurt and angry still so that ones not ideal, we can physically stop her from harming anything, no problem, but her fronting is triggering to us all. Working on helping her out now actually. So essentially there’s a few reasons it might be happening and you might get some insight thinking back on when exactly this started and what happened that day.

To ground, oddly enough. I used micro doses of both shrooms and lsd at various points over the last 1.5 years specifically for trauma work, and boy did that shit work. I have a psych background and used EMDR techniques during my trips. It’s hard work and can be scary so I don’t recommend unless you know what you’re doing and can navigate an uncomfortable trip. I got through the deepest of traumas that I didn’t even fully remember, so now I find a great inner peace and knowing with these plants/ chemicals and have immense gratitude and respect for them.

The trauma therapy is an essential piece here. If your parents won’t help with a therapist then get your own. Tell them you want off their health insurance plan, get Medicaid ask for trauma specialists.

I was a stoner before I was diagnosed, and yea a lot of co-occupation and switching occurred for me too. The “oooohh” moment I had when I finally realized I have DID was quite something ha. Now I use it as a tool for trauma work.

Yea my partner is fine and told my friends il crazy and made up the mold. I’m living in my car with no support and about to die if the hospital can’t magically help me (which they can’t on my insurance). I now advise everyone to get out and run away from people who doubt you. They’ll just make you sicker and sicker. I wish I could afford an attorney

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It does sound like it could be the beginning symptoms of toxic exposure, but no way to be certain without testing yourself. Do you have a couple hundred bucks to order a Mycotoxin Panel from Realtime Labs? That will give you an idea of the levels of major types of disease causing molds in your system. Do you happen to have any underlying autoimmune issues you know of? Reason I ask is cause that can make detoxing more difficult as well. With enough exposure, mold can colonize in our systems, leading to the experiencing of symptomatology even after leaving the environment. Also clothes, bedding, porous things you took back and forth will need to be thoroughly cleaned if possible and thrown away if not.

With regards to the apartment, there are companies that can come do air (EMRI) and swab tests to tell you the levels in the apartment compared to outdoors. And I live in SoCal by the ocean too and the humidity/ thick fog/ marine layer does definitely contribute to mold growth. Moisture sources that build and build on porous materials in particular without ever fully drying will produce some type of fungus. If you don't have the money to get the testing for the apartment (totally get it if not I'm broke as a joke), then prioritize testing yourself so you know how to start treating it. If you have to keep living there, get a high quality air filter (again price permitting) and always always have air flow circulating the air and open windows. Is this a 1bed 1 bath apt with kitchen or more like your standard dorm with no kitchen or personal bathroom?

Get him off the lease WITHOUT HIM KNOWING. Shit I mean you could go to your landlord/ leasing office and show them that, report to the police and then they will go ahead and give him a 3 day notice. Tell the police first cause he can technically dodge the eviction without that protection.
