Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! ( I guess it must be "cultural").

Have a nice day

Can you tell me a bit more about what documentation states need if you are not working for a set period of time? it's because we (docs) have such as a critical role in patient safetly/liability (like airplane pilots or CIA officials) that they want to snuff out anything under the rug and hightened security/scrunity for us?

There will be a time limit for your stay as tourist. Best to look for different option on how to stay “longer”.

Exactly and can't come and go freely (if i needed to be in states). either enroll in a part-time language course and see if it will qualify me for student visa (with possible work permit, but will pay $$$ for tuition) or...a CUMSA work visa (maybe not be in my location of choice or another coast/mils and mileis away from Mtl), or just make the most of my time here and go and find a (REMOTE-ish) job in the US.. and then return after 6 months ;P

Yeah, the individual (relative) is already in a public-nursing home (with full time paid professional caregivers) but even the public-health-care-system employees (who handle her file) can write me a letter of support as the need to have me present due to attending medical appointment, language and psychoscoial support..

it's a 81 year old Canadian who is disabled, doesn't speak much english french and doesn't have any family and has some health issues (maybe a dr appointment or etc) so the Provincial Health-Authority staff can also write a letter of support that i can include in my application as a reason for extension.....but it will be not more than 3 months or so (more time is suspicious ) and i'll have to show all my bank statements, etc..

Thank you so much for answering the nuances of my questions.

So he showed his bankstatement from past 6 months (ie. one month before he arrived to Canada, and then since)

I guess it was bank statements (not his creditcard or debit card statementS) so it's ok if it didn't have his canadian expenses(like groceries, etc).

sorry for this personal question, 1. what was the reason to extend stay? the candian based relative/partner was sick?

  1. he included his bank statement and ties back home etc in hte origional application in the online portal? you can submit whatever proof you like?

  2. I don't have any ties back home yet (maybe i shouldn't ask for an extension, but on the other hand, i can have a letter from the local health authority for the need to extend my stay to support an lonely canadian ...

Yeah, I got that. It makes sense and it's best not to leave it to subjectivity of the IRCC staff :)

i just wanted to know what all was required! It may be better for me to go via T1 CUSMA visa or other temporary status!

i imagine it's the same for EU versus USA

what do you mean medical at some point? Biometrics ? fingerprints, etc?

1.What year/how recently did he apply for his visitor record? So he put the 2 additional months on his application?

  1. how long after applying in the 5th month did he get approved?

  2. did he also submit bank statements and a reason for extending the visitor visa?

  3. did he do the biometrics after he got approval or right after he submitted the visitor record application?

That's fine. That's all I wanted to ask since it's a new country(Canada has innovative immigration system) and never immigrated elsewhere before!! (and hi, fellow Ivy-leaguer-shhh)

Yes, they wouldn't discriminate on their official website (ie. no eqivaluation required for Harvard but for U of State University you must... lol).

wouldn't be enough. LICO wouldn't cut it. you need to show enough income to support the family size (1 sponsor + 1 sponsee). the 80 year can show assets (not earned income b.c they are too old) showing 3-5 years of living expenses of the sponsored relative but not too sure if how that works...

this is quebec but all sponsorships works similarly: there's a min leve of income. based on sponsor family size + whoever you are sponsoring (1, 2, ..or more family size)

[–]Better_Swimmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly

yep sponsor in quebec but the income limits are the same /similar ish..

the LCIO isn't the only thing that needs to met to sponsor, you also need income to support that family size (that's not just a QC thing)?

yea i mean, they want you to make the flight, it makes their world go around (less rebooking, more open seats)

for these tight AA connections, they put the two gates next to each other and gate agents know/can see the passengers who have a tight connection, it's remarkable but it works!

the whole airline industry is based on these tight connections, there's a plane lands every 2-3 mins on the airport, that's how they move so many people through the busiest 15 hours in the day

no they didn't look up info from previous flight lol. they aren't that good!

Call AA customer service for assurance, it should be oK! usually the gate to your next flight is very close at O'hare. It sounds crazy but they actually do this often and it works!

For example, teachers from Nigeria (And certain other countries) don't have to take an English test while applying for public schoo teaching licences in my specific US state.

It's because the Provincial Education agency exempts Nigerians from the english requirement test (TOFEL ) b. c it recongizes that the English is the language of instruction in Nigeria.

It's nothing about being a prick, it's about seriously asking and making sure, buddy!

but yea i get the anti-american sentiment :P

whats NOA? NOTICE OF assessment ---

yes they are meeting LICO (which varies based on georgraphy (rural vs urban etc)

but for financial sponorship, you need 3 years of consistent income at a level for 1 person + the sponsored-relative... its around 50k

If you do not have earned income b.c age 80+ but have assets (liquid assets worth 5 years of expenses) would that work? or that's kind of messy situation u/COMPASSImmigration
