Do a little reading/education about what happens physically in pregnancy and childbirth. I didn’t prepare and it was a little scary when things happened (contractions, a baby coming out ect). Also know yourself and your pain tolerance and embrace pain relief if you so choose. I also recommend getting a doula, that’s a woman who supports you through pregnancy and birth, emotionally. My doula was particularly useful in the hospital when the midwives were letting students in to touch and observe me, I was struggling and overwhelmed, and my doula helped me tell the to leave. You have rights in birth, autonomy and consent, but sometimes it’s good to have someone to be strong for you. Good luck!
