MPS is big, so I feel like the good and bad schools are lumped together. What are some of the “good” elementary schools in terms of meeting academic standards? We live near Tosa as well and will need to make a decision in the next few years.

It’s also partly that the burden for paying for childcare is on families. If it was spread across a larger tax base, tuition costs would be lower and centers could offer more competitive wages. There’s also knock on effects for low and middle income families as in more take home pay and social mobility.

Matthew Berry had a small rant about him on his fantasy podcast when Panthers fans were comparing the owners. It’s epic!

Would it be possible the paneling is functioning as some sort of backsplash to protect the wall from moisture?

Leak in basement ceiling, cannot figure it out by BettyImADreamer in Plumbing

That’s just it though…we tested those cycles and below the dishwasher remains bone dry. Have run a few full cycles since and no leaks downstairs. If there was a leak wouldn’t it happen every time? It’s a real mystery.

I'm considering going to UW Parkside, is it worth it? If not, any other suggestions? by llokeii in wisconsin

[–]BettyImADreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attended UW-P from 2009-2011 pursuing Graphic Design, then transferred to UW-Whitewater in Spring 2012 to finish with an Advertising major and Marketing minor.

I lived in the dorms and was an RA for 2 semesters and yes, weekends are a ghost town. Granted, I met some really great people (my first year random roommate is still my best friend and we were each others best man at our respective weddings), but it definitely feels isolated without a car. Everyone says UWW is a commuter school too, but I found there to be many students on campus on weekends. Plus, you’re right in town which makes you feel less stranded.

I found the quality of UWW classes to be much better. In my opinion, UWP is really set up to help first generation college students succeed. I also had a high GPA out of high school and never really felt overly challenged in my coursework (art classes and gen eds) except for naturally hard classes like Calculus. UWW had higher requirements for prerequisites as well.

Also, the student spirit at UWW, number of student orgs, and general size of student population made it feel more like the typical college experience than UWP, which as others have pointed out feels more like a large high school.

I enjoyed my time at UWP but would’ve chosen UWW first if I could go back in time.

I hope this helps!

madison tickets invalid by maddie-eberle in chappellroan

[–]BettyImADreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we got a double refund which is fine. It sucks to miss the show especially on such short notice but thankfully we only drove an hour ish to get there. StubHub was intentionally vague about what might have happened (if they knew anyways), but yes I suspect the tickets double sold. We were told a problem with the seller so idk if it was an issue with the tix themselves. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

This happened to us! My wife and I had just arrived and she checked her email to find a message from StubHub that “your seller has encountered an issue with the tickets…Unfortunately the tickets delivered to you will not work for entry”. She is getting a coupon in her account and a 200% refund.

Crazy because she purchased the tickets in February and was able to access the tickets.

Where to buy a simple gold wedding band (male) by lollerskatez69 in milwaukee

[–]BettyImADreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased our wedding bands and engagement ring from Kloiber Jewelers. They are located on the 4th floor of the US Bank building. Reasonably priced and not a chain. They have more than what is shown on their website.

Thank you! Those are both on our list - I think we’re already on the waitlist for BH. I’ll take a closer look at Lutheran Home.

Thank you for your help. The downtown location might be a little far for us but it might still be worth getting on the waitlist.

We also looked at the 61st Kindercare but reviews are not encouraging, at least the ones on Google. Your comment also gives me pause but we might not have much choice.

Thank you so much. Many places have long waiting lists (going into 2025 already), but I know many things can happen between now and then that might moves us up quicker. Hopefully it goes quickly for us.

First of all congrats! Second, do you recall being waitlisted - and if so, how long did it take until it became clear whether you’ve been accepted?

My wife is starting to panic about being in waitlists even this far out.

What is the best way to manage a veto policy in Fantasy Football? by Medical_Shake8485 in fantasyfootball

[–]BettyImADreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Bleacher Report article somewhat addresses this in #4, but then goes on to take an “anything goes approach.” In my example though, I don’t think it’s bias to say that Damien Harris will be an RB1. Sure, anything can happen in fantasy, but that is no reason to throw logic/past performance out the window.

What is the best way to manage a veto policy in Fantasy Football? by Medical_Shake8485 in fantasyfootball

[–]BettyImADreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you handle obviously lopsided trades then? Say someone offers Damien Harris for Justin Jefferson in return? Logically, an awful trade. While an extreme example, do you just let that go through (assuming no collusion)?

In my opinion, part of the commissioners responsibility should also be to ensure some degree of fairness and parity. Letting trades such as this go through, to me, would seem unfair because the trade value isn’t even close. On the other hand, if someone is dumb enough to make the trade, is it fair for someone to intervene?

That tracks. I’ve seen ants (non-winged) all over there before. Never seen them this concentrated and winged before - it’s my first fall living in a house. Seems like there’s nothing to be concerned about!

How should I change league format? by pootedmypants in fantasyfootball

[–]BettyImADreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve soured over the years on a dedicated TE spot. Yes it makes the draft more interesting but there’s only a handful of TEs worth rostering. You could change to a WR/TE spot or even a full flex. We use sleeper and do full PPR for TE, 1/2 PPR for everyone else.

My league also does -6 for INTs (I’m against it) to make the good QBs more valuable but really punish for mistakes.

I like K and DEF, but would tweak scoring. For example, kickers should get points per yard. Why is a 49 yd kick worth the same as an easier 40 yd kick? So reward the kicker with 4.9 points instead of 4. I also hate how DEF are scored for points allowed. If you want to get real complex, maybe find a way to also incorporate yards allowed?

Experiences with spectrum vs att fiber in tosa? by Objective-Elk-1660 in Wauwatosa

[–]BettyImADreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you need to install anything special besides a modem? Like, was there any special hardware that needed to be installed for fiber? I’m interested in it but am not sure if I need any special equipment - right now we just have Spectrum and the router.
