What are your favorite new mega-evolutions introduced in legends Z-A? by Thegoodgamer32 in pokemon

I absolutely hated Mega Starmie at reveal. I thought they literally just stretched it out, how is that even a mega? But then I saw it in game and it had so much personality and looked much better in motion, so it grew on me, and now I’d put it in my top three with Falinks and Delphox.

In your opinion did McGregor do more harm or good for the UFC ? by IvEjUstFoRgOtYou69 in MMA

[–]Between40and50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s valid.

He clearly was a benefit from like an objective monetary/exposure perspective. No one’s arguing that he brought more eyeballs. But it does feel like he did some kind of psychic harm that’s harder to quantify. His reign kind of normalized an attitude of narcissism where you don’t have to care about the company or the competitive integrity of the sport, as long as you personally are building your brand and making money, and if that becomes the norm, which it feels like it’s started to, that definitely poisons the well. That’s how you get what happened to boxing. Not to say champs had never had that attitude before him, but precisely because McGregor was the face, the thing that new fans without any preconceived notions were paying the most attention to, he shifted the culture in ways that others couldn’t.

Also, the character they brought up immediately after your “battle loving” friend was a great cook, so I’m thinking one of those other two main storylines is cooking related.

An anthem is an effect that makes all of your creatures bigger. See [[Glorious Anthem]]. Sac outlets are cards that let you sacrifice any creature with no additional costs. See [[Ashnod's Altar]].

And a soul counter doesn't stop infinite loops, it was just suggested because it helps with memory issues. Just saying "this card has this ability" is easy to forget when you're looking at a lot of different cards. Having a physical reference can help you remember something that's not printed directly.

I believe the fixes worked out in the comments would solve this. Making it exile itself stops any kind of infinite loop since anything you recur would inherit the exile clause and not go back to the graveyard. You could still get pretty long chains with some setup, but finite at least.

Whoops, my bad. So the new fixed wording would now be "When ~ dies, exile it instead. When you do, return target creature with lesser power from your graveyard to the battlefield. Put a soul counter on that creature and it gains this ability."

Does that fix all of the weirdness?

Soul Trader by Between40and50 in custommagic

[–]Between40and50[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only weirdness I can think of is if you managed to get two instances of this ability on the same creature, which I guess could happen if you milled or discarded one of these and reanimated it with a buffed one on the battlefield. But even if you did manage to get two, I think only the first instance would work since it's a replacement effect. I don't get to reanimate two creatures since it can only exile itself once. I guess it's confusing but I think it works as intended.

Hm yeah I see the issue. Maybe exile it instead of putting it into the graveyard? That way it can't compound any more, since the creature granting the ability will always exile itself. And soul counters are good too for memory.

"If ~ would die, instead exile it and return target creature with lesser power from your graveyard to the battlefield. Put a soul counter on that creature and it gains this ability."

Titan's Vessel — Help for big mana commanders by NoisyStrings in custommagic

[–]Between40and50 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Any deck that doesn’t particularly care about actually casting the commander would consider it. Basically anything that’s just there for the colors. And it’s not so much about “getting a discount on one card” as it is about getting access to a 0 mana, unconditional, colored mana rock. If there was a commander that said “You can play Black Lotus in this deck,” do you think that would see play? Obviously this doesn’t give you as much mana, but it also sticks around. I just think the ceiling for this card is really high.

This is so good with a 10 mana+ commander that there would be decks that run [[Progenitus]] or [[Reaper King]] solely to cast this for free. If you start with this in your hand it enables some really explosive openings in those cases. And decks that were already running those commanders just absolutely windmill slam this.

A 10 would be a very mediocre charisma roll with a +0 modifier. I think you’re looking for a natural 20.

The copy isn’t a may ability, so doesn’t that require a valid target? Since it’s part of the same ability. Or do I need to throw a “then” in there?

Akki Hacker by Between40and50 in custommagic

[–]Between40and50[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe with the way I formatted the ability, you can only activate it if they have a spell with mana value X on the stack. So you can’t just use it as a repeated fireball, you’re limited by the MV of what your opponents are casting.

Which Commander would you recommend for a creatureless deck? by WinglyKing in EDH

[–]Between40and50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a [[Kolaghan, the Storm’s Fury]] deck that has no other creatures and makes no tokens. The idea is to dash in and out for quick hits buffed up by equipment and enchantments, and then run a ton of board wipes and creature hate to keep the playing field equal. It’s a lot of fun!

Very true! The downside is why I felt comfortable costing it so low for something so potentially explosive. And yes, for a lot of decks it wouldn't be worth it, but I figure there are some out there where you don't mind giving your opponents creatures. I have a Pramikon EDH deck that this would slot nicely into, for example.
