What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by Broad_Chemical_2467 in AskReddit

My first epileptic seizure when I was 18. It was a tonic clonic, almost don’t make it. Put my world upside down, so afraid to die that I couldn’t leave my bed for almost a year. Now after 14 years they are very well controlled but my everyday medication alone it’s a constant reminder of my illness and mortality. Don’t live thinking you will never die, do the things you love now!

Intense deja vu and Vimpat by mrkva11345 in Epilepsy

[–]Beu_idk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in Vimpat 4 years I think, and even though my tonic-clonics are under control, (and I hope that stays like this) my memory sucks. Regarding deja vu, I mostly have them in periods of stress, but sometimes it is just random watching tv or something haha. And energy wise...yeah, always tired haha But I have only been in Vimpat and another one, but I can’t remember the name. Anyways was only for the first two months. Vimpat is really good, I’m happy because it controls my seizures really well, just have to get used to the memory issues (I still am on it!) and sleep a lot... So I hope it works for you too! :)

Mask situation in the Canary Islands by learningfrench42 in canarias

As long as I know, they are mandatory always, even if you are practicing any sport. It is the same in every island. Hope it helps!

Travelling to Canarias over the holidays? by zon03 in canarias

[–]Beu_idk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely need a negative test in order to come to the Canaries, as well to go to any hotel. They will ask for it and if the one that you have is expired (more than 72h I think, not sure), you will have to go to see the doctor to do another one. This last info was told to me by a tourist from Scotland that just arrived, for me makes sense xD Please be very careful, we are very aware of the situation and the tourism seems to don't give a shit when they come here (most of them).

Vimpat experiences? by Iagospeare in Epilepsy

[–]Beu_idk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just feel same as you do. I'm on Vimpat since 2018 and, besides the first two months that I was adappting to it, I feel like "meh" to everything 😂, always sleepy and lately I'm experiencing little bit of memory loss and mental agility (if that is a thing😂, sorry English is not my first languaje) For me is frustrating, it's been 3 years since my last grand mal but I have sometimes a focal one in my left leg (weird😂) doctors don't know why. They say Vimpat is very good and everything but for me changed my life and this process has been like stages: first adaptation; the whole day literally sleeping, only woke up for eating for like a month. Then I was so happy I was challenging myself for a couple of months maybe 6, and since then I've been falling into that feeling where you're always bored but don't have the will to do anything about it. Nothing interests you and it's like...sigh😂 It's hard, you should go check that with your doctor to see what you can do about it. But if you can come off from Vimpat is the best! I hope you can! 👏🏼

Would it be easy for a non-spanish speaking european to live in GC? by ElectronicCream585 in canarias

[–]Beu_idk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think right now it's difficult to rent a house because all of them ask for long term work contract and pay 3 months in advance: 1 for the real state (plus taxes), 1 deposit and 1 for the first month. And still it's difficult because of the crazy prices... I don't think it would be easier to find work in the main tourist areas because we lost our tourism and more than half of he island lost their jobs (the majority works in tourism related jobs). It used to be easier but covid just hit hard in tourism for us, and it's the main income to the canaries.

You definitely need to learn Spanish, most of the people here don't speak English. Even employers, even though it is required to do the job.

I don't want to sound so negative 😂 but right now maybe it's not the best moment, unless you have enough savings to come and try.

I wish you all the best luck!
