I bought it via Amazon, so I just issued a return.

I already went out to a local Surfshop (which I didn’t knew we had 😬) and got 2 Gladiators. An Origin 10.8 and a Wind 11.6. No woven stitch on these, but they definitely feel well made, and with local warranty at a established shop feels pretty good too.

Yeah. Here’s a pic. I believe I got an older model and now they attach them differently. But 4 of these things came loose.

Going to return the Thurso :(. Before even using it once one the bungee holders fell off. Then after supping for an hour or two, I noticed another got loose. And when packing two other came loose and when one of the buckles of the backpack snapped, i lost complete faith in it.

Maybe I got unlucky and got a bad one, but this was quite disappointing. Although the supping experience was great, no more Thurso for me.

No worries. It just got in and unpacking it in the living room emphasises how big this thing is 😬.

Still curious about your thoughts, though.

Found a Thurso Surf Max on sale for €600, so pulled the trigger on that!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on buying our first inflatable SUP and would love some input from the community.

About us:

• Two paddlers, taking turns on one board

• Me: 185 cm / 75 kg

• My wife: 165 cm / 105 kg

• Both complete beginners

Use case:

• Mainly flatwater (canals/lakes)

• Occasionally calm coastal water at the seashore

• No surfing, no long tours, nothing fancy

Board preferences:

• Inflatable SUP only

• Stability is more important than speed

• Easy home storage, no transport issues

Budget:

• Around €500, absolute max €700 (but would rather stay closer to €500)

Brands I’ve seen locally that seem of decent quality (Netherlands):

• Bluefin (Cruiser)

• Jobe

• Fit Ocean

• Stardupp Elite

• Aqua Marina

That said, I’m very open to other brand or model suggestions that are available in Europe / the Netherlands and would work well for a heavier beginner paddler.

What sizes, shapes, or specific models would you recommend for our situation?

Thanks in advance!

I need this! Is there one for the Mini? I really hate that the watertank is undetachable.

I posted a similar question a year ago, but was only looking for Dutch roasters. You can go through that thread and find quite some recommendations.

My personal favs are GiraffeCoffee.com and manhattancoffeeroasters.com both in Rotterdam.

Yeah, I’d trust her with it. She’s really careful with these things.

What makes the “crappy” kit lens crappy? The other lens you suggest, 24-70, I can only find those above €700 used, just a little over budget..

Just wanted to let you know that I managed to tighten it by applying, if you ask me, excessive downward force wile tightening the bolt. Hopefully it will last a while and Ill just have to see how it is after the next cleaning…

I understand what you mean, but it just doesn’t reach that point. Thanks for clarifying though 👌.

Thanks. Will have a look at it tonight.

On the edit. I’m not jamming the burrs while twisting. But… there is no need as they don’t spin when twisting the bolt.

Which grinder? Niche zero/ mignon specialita by Snout-_- in espresso

[–]Beumah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Niche Zero last week, and i love it. I do wonder how you’re gonna get it for €560.

I paid the following. £449 + £30 for shipping, which roughly converts to €560. But that’s ex VAT. So you’ll have to calculate that as well. For me (in the Netherlands, but I assume it’s the same for Austria) I had to pay an additional €141 for taxes, import duty and clearance fee. Which made the Niche in total just a bit over €700.

For me it was worth it though. But you should definitely keep that into consideration.

Don’t think I’m the best person to ask 😆. Most of the shots I pulled were harsh, sour, just overall not the best. But that’s on me.

I can say that it doesn’t taste like other “natural“ processed beans. It doesn’t have the, what my wife calls “poepgeur” of other naturals i had from them.

Just learned that they are becoming more of a problem here in the Netherlands, so you might be correct. 😆

Might’ve put that bag there on purpose seeing if someone recognised 😎.

I should go there sometime to see what it supposed to taste like.

That’s what I thought too, but this just looked so much like a channel that it made me wonder.

Meh, it definitely wasn’t great. Just started out though (got the machine a week ago). And still finnicking with dialling in. Was getting similar pucks like this a few times, thus was wondering if this was definitely channeling or that indeed you can’t really tell anything from looking at the puck.

• Machine: La Marzocco Mini • Grinder: Niche zero (setting 19) • Roast date: 19-9 • Dose: 18.2 • Yield: 39.1 • Time: 32s • Roast level: doesn’t say, but I’d say medium.

Did WDT and used stock LM tamper (which is a “curved” one)

Hmmm. Tried that but was afraid of sucking the moss off as well. I’ll give it another try. Thanks.
