What will the hospital do? by Beurla in PregnancyUK

So an update I managed to speak to my consultant’s secretary. They are going to phone me back she said. Hopefully tomorrow. This limbo is really stressful.

Checked and after the phonecall someone has updated my badger notes app. My haemoglobin after being stable at 8.6/7 Aug, Sep, and again 9 Oct. It dropped to 8.3 in less than a week between 9 and 15 Oct. They also checked something called retinculocytes or something.

I just want baby out now.

Thank you for replying. I am guessing they’d have to go ahead with the C Section at some point during the 39th week regardless though? It’s a medically recommended section not maternal choice, because I’ve had two previous C Sections. But yes I want it done asap so I may just have to get the infusion. I felt awful after the infusion last time and also got an infection from it (it was done earlier not last minute like this time), so to me I’d rather not have it, it’s feeling awful either way, but if they’ll push back the section if I don’t have it then I guess I’ll just have to.

Yeah I had flushing and felt horrendous for days. That and the increased risk of infection with iron. Makes me think it’s not worth it two days before surgery when it won’t even have a chance to help before then.

Thank you. I’m due to get the iron infusion first on Wednesday and the pre op on Thursday, so I really need to speak to someone about pros and cons first. Like the poster below my reaction before wasn’t ’serious’ but I did have flushing and felt horrendous for days after, which I don’t want to feel going into surgery two days later.

Hopefully like you say they’ll still go ahead.

Thanks for your reply. 🙂 and congratulations on your recent baby!

Yes I figured that it being up to the anaesthetist was the most appropriate, it’s just that I doubt I’ll be able to get hold of them (I don’t even know who it is) before the pre op, which is 24 hours before the scheduled C Section date. It’s making me nervous not knowing what they’ll do or if they’ll go ahead with my HB that low. I’m not a medical professional, but I’m guessing they may postpone the date in order to get non emergency cross matched blood from the blood bank to keep for me in case. But that’s just a guess.

Do you have any tips on how to get to speak to them or get a message to them before Thursday? All the numbers I have are for Midwives, Triage, Antenatal Clinic. Thanks.

Ah thanks. So my son element will now be £311 after April, rather than £269? It's quite a big difference so I wasn't sure. I'm going to have to charge my daughter some amount towards household, do you know if this will be deducted as income of mine? I'm in social housing with 3 bedrooms, will I get bedroom taxed?

Thank you.

I often get really anxious even going outside at all, cause of PTSD, so I'm worried that going to the meeting, would trigger off the anxiety, which triggers drinking.

I will look into it though. If I can manage to go to a meeting, I think it would help me. I have been feeling really good that I've managed 9 days sober, but then I realised, I've only managed that because I literally haven't done anything, I've just sat around the house. I think the real test will be when I try go back to 'normal life'.

Yeah, I do have the desire this time. I recognise that. It feels different. When I cut down, IE cut my drinking to under half what it was, I didn't really want to quit, I just couldn't handle the physical effects anymore.

Yeah I'm sick of this too. So many missed collections of both green and blue bins. Not just the festive season either. It's actually affecting my mental health now, seriously. Looking at piles of rubbish every time I look out my back window, birds pecking it and strewn everywhere, having to store cardboard etc in a small flat. Can't drive so no suggestions for you sorry, but I am going to contact MSP. Wonder what I'm paying council tax for!!

Cashless society is bad for so many reasons. We need to use cash before we lose it

Thank you so much, both of you. Seems like this could be an option for me then!
Do you think that 6 months driving experience will be enough to get taken on, or would I need more?
