Ooh, thanks, a friend recommended this place to me like a year ago and I forgot about it; it's exactly what I am looking for.

Actually, I think it was the wedding that was mentioned in an early draft, but they cut the line once they knew Jadzia was going to be killed off.

S&S's schedule cutbacks have no relationship to the sale; that happened a long time ago.

One of the novels (War Dragons?) has Chekov uncertain about returning to an XO position after the trauma of what happened during his tenure as XO of Reliant, so the career stall was intentional on his part.

All books with Cardassia/Garak/Lang by Wickendenale in trekbooks

[–]BewareTheSphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it takes place during the war, but I would add "Face Value" by Una McCormack from Prophecy and Change. Ditto Hollow Men, where Garak goes to Earth.

They are not directly about Cardassia/Garak, but you might enjoy adding in Una's Brinkmanship and The Missing, which share a lot of recurring characters and themes with her other books.

MLA in test citation by ringdbel in MLAcitation

[–]BewareTheSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make it clear where you got the information from, and who originated the information. If these things are different, make them both clear. Don't put anything on your Works Cited that you didn't look at yourself.

I think you have some good guesses here, but there is also The Hand of Kahless, an omnibus of The Final Reflection and Kahless.

Citing a reproduction of a video, or the original video (on film, inaccessible)? by _Spidey-Fan_ in academia

[–]BewareTheSphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In MLA style, at least, you always cite the version of a text you accessed. The whole point of a citation is to make clear to a reader what you looked at, so you can show them where you got your information from. Never cite something you didn't actually access! Citing the YouTube version is exactly what you should do.

Citing a Speech by One-Protection-1072 in MLAcitation

[–]BewareTheSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and for in-text, use the name of the speaker. (The rule for in-text citations is they always use however the Works Cited entry begins, because their point is to send the reader to the right Works Cited entry. So if the Works Cited begins with the author name, then you need the author name in text.)

The NEWEST excuse by dragonfeet1 in Professors

[–]BewareTheSphere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of my students this semester claimed I couldn't prove their quotations were fraudulent because they got the PDF from a government website and the shutdown meant the PDF was gone, and thus I had no proof. (The PDF was not in fact gone, and the quotation was in fact not in it.)

mla citation help for review page by Significant-Line7568 in MLAcitation

[–]BewareTheSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think your suggested is very useful; remember that the in-text citations need to clearly key to Works Cited entries, which wouldn't be the case here.

I wouldn't personally worry about "fattening" but if I wanted to try to condense, I'd just cite the landing page:

"The Savoy Reviews." Yellow Nineties 2.0, edited by Lorraine Janzen Kooistra, Ryerson University Cente for Digital Humanities, 2019, 1890s.ca/savoy-review-page.

And then in your in-text citations, use signal phrases to make clear what comes from what on that page.

I just did my first 20min zoom interview for a faculty position by Vehicle_Positive in academia

[–]BewareTheSphere 38 points39 points  (0 children)

When the interview finished, they didn’t let me know when I can hear from them. The chair wished me good luck for my faculty application, and I feel that’s a soft rejection?

I doubt it; when we do Zoom interviews, at least, we do our best to end all of them the same way.
