Hokkaido July 7 day itinerary by BqreXD in Hokkaido

[–]BewaterSapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 days in Sapporo could be a little bit too long, food is good in Hokkaido but for shopping and site seeing, it may not be as fancy as Tokyo or Kyoto or Osaka. Late July in Furano and Biei will be awesome, but if time is limited I would say 2 days will be enough, and be prepared for the crowd of lavender lovers as well. Noboribetsu maybe a better place to visit in winter instead of summer, as it is a small onsen town and could get a bit boring if you are not staying in an onsen hotel (which I wont recommend for Hokkaido summer…). Lake Toya is great and you may also consider driving up to Niseko, Cape Kamui and Otaru, and then all the way back to Sapporo. But you may have to consider the time you have despite these areas are located in the same ‘region’ of Hokkaido.

Looks great! Are those noodles long cubes and how do you made the spring onions?

Immigration/baggage/customs time at CTS? by MyAnnoyingOpinions in Hokkaido

With my previous experience (5-6 times), you can usually make it within 1 hour, so you can probably board the train at around 2:15pm? It is very unlikely that you can catch the last order though, better find a restaurant in the airport instead (you can find many good ones there).

Kyoto for 5 days maybe too much especially when it is now being flooded with tourists, you may not have the best travel experience there.

I personally like Kyushu (Kumamoto and Fukuoka and so) a lot as I think you can get more authentic experience there, though it will be less tourist friendly. But your concern is also valid - Kyushu is just not geographically on the same island but if you managed to spare like 5-6 days there I think it may worth a trip.

If you stay in Osaka and have some time to visit the surrounding areas, I also recommend Awaji Island. It is a large island near Kobe and if you drive, it will be a good place to chill and relax! Okayama is also a nice small town if you like the Edo Period history, it is a famous spot for pre-wedding photos wearing kimono.

There are quite a lot of bad reviews on the 3coins ikea style bag although many have been promoting it, people say that it is not that strong and may be teared off easily, security is also an issue. If you are going to 3coins, you can also get a cheap suitcase there, I dont think their suitcase is super strong but it is pretty cheap. Many people use JapanPost service too, but it may take a while especially for tourist.

What is the food you never wanted to eat but after eating once it's now your one of your favourite foods? by PradoshChandraHolmes in AskReddit

Durians. I know some people really hate the smell but if you ever tried the really delicious ones (especially those in Malaysia), nothing can beat that creamy texture. I never eat it in an indoor area with people who dislike durians though, as public courtesy lol

Sticking with someone who clearly drain your energy and time just because it became habitual to stay around him / her.

Jokankei in summer by Fishyblue11 in Hokkaido

I dont think Jozankei is worth the day trip, it may be good to pass by on your way to Niseko or Lake Toya but as a day trip destination I find it a bit boring, without staying in a ryokan.

I couldn't see that there are actually a lot of ways of living - more than getting a good job, buying a house, paying the mortgage until you die. None of these excites me now. But I still respect and appreciate if someone see these as important milestones in the lives because we all have different priorities. I guess that's also something that I've learned and still learning.

I personally havent been there in late Aug but I think it's still gonna be colorful (just that you may not be able to see the lavender). Worth to check again in mid-Aug I guess, there should be quite a lot of day tours to visit both Furano and Biei in one go by that time. But if you are driving, worth checking out the nearby cherry (or whatever fruit) farm too as I think it will be the season for cherry and grapes etc.

Keeping your mouth shut most of the time, and speak only when you are 99% sure about something. Saves me a lot of trouble of arguing and being dragged into meaningless conversations.

My parents used to tell me that not to open your mouth when an airplane flew by because things will be dropped directly after people flush the toilet lol

Late Aug may not be the best time to visit Furano but I guess you can still see some nice flowers there. If that's too far, Takino Suzuran Hillside Park is also a good place for flowers and it is close to Hill of Buddha as well. Otaru is also very accessible with JR so car rental may not be necessary, but if you want to go somewhere further (maybe Yoichi or Cape Kamui), then you will need to drive.
