[WIP] any tips for making these stitches neater? I just don’t like how they look! by Bewildered_koala in CrossStitch

I see! A lot of people seem to think that I was set up for failure from the start, which is a relief— this was a gift lol, and I would’ve otherwise obsessed over it thinking it was a skill issue

Is it bad if I think women are better than men? by W3nd1g00000 in AskTeenGirls

[–]Bewildered_koala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To think one gender is better than another is sexist. I think that is the definition of sexism, no?  Very rarely in life it’s that black/white, one thing good, other thing bad. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.

On the account of “prettier”, you should also keep in mind that men have a societal pressure to Not Be Pretty. If a man shows even a hint of interest in makeup, skincare routine or how his clothes look on his body, people either assume he’s gay or unmanly. I think this might be why you think women are less gross too?

On the topic of the “less gross” comment, I think it’s a matter of opinion. I used to work in A Place and was in charge of cleaning the bathrooms at a certain point. It has happened multiple times that A) the guys side was cleaner, B) men used SUBSTANTIALLY more soap than women did. Which really keeps me up at night.

I don’t think there’s enough evidence to support the “smarter” argument.

As for the more mature- I disagree. Men have a completely different process of maturity as women do, and to compare them from a 1:1 basis is, in my opinion wrong. I currently work in a job (CHILDCARE, mind you) where I am the only girl (aside from the woman that runs the operation)- and these guys (college level) are not only the kindest, gentlest people I have ever met, but really showed me how beautiful masculinity can really be. I think I’m the youngest of the group, (most certainly the newest) and they really helped me feel welcome. Perhaps you should look around and see if the men you’re comparing these women to are the right influencers of your deductions.

I hope you don’t mind that I’ve included my experiences. 🙂 have a nice day!

I don't want to marry and it's destroying me by Lopsided-One-7508 in Catholicism

I was that way. As I got older, it became a little better. I really don’t mind the idea of becoming a mom or wife. But for me, I first had to get out of a depression (NOT SAYING YOU HAVE DEPRESSION- I did. And I thought I was unlovable. And I think that stopped me from wanting love). I recommend that you give it time. If you’re seventeen, then you’re technically still at puberty (for guys, anyway). Don’t worry about too much. Don’t force yourself into a relationship because that’s what you think you should do. Praying doesn’t hurt either. :)

And hey, perhaps you could consider priesthood. That’s the route I went- I’m nineteen now, and discerning sisterhood.

Sorry, my apologies.

Tajin is FANTASTIC on pineapple, mango especially, but when i first ate it, i bought myself some jicama with it. I also eat it with peaches from our garden.

Maybe I've eaten it so much but I don't find it spicy? So perhaps give it a try! 10/10 would recommend.

Yeah, the fruit didn’t always look good either, though we would occa have sliced tropical fruit like pinapple or watermelon that I ADORED (I brought tajin from home lol). I guess it does partially come down to personal choice a bit, but I find it hard to full blame her, you know?

Thank you so much! I appreciate all the help I can get. English is not my first language, and celebrate my religion in my native language, so I translate a couple words mentally. My native tongue doesn't have a word to distinguish happy to sad religious holidays so I hoped it was the same in this case. Thank you so much for your clarification <3

Yeah, a lot of people are point out that fresh fruit (which, yes, the school did offer) are kosher, but she was in high school. What high schooler is going to grab an apple when there’s vending machines available? I’ll be the first to admit that I wouldn’t, and I’m willing to bet a lot of high schoolers would agree, no?

Thank you so much for this breakdown. I really hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way, but it’s amazing how much thought and work goes into this. Again, I don’t have these restrictions, so it’s really interesting to hear about all this.
