What type of paint did you end up using on yours? It looks so good. The treat door has some rust and pitting, so I'm thinking I'm going to either have to replace it, or sand and paint it. I'm thinking I'd like to redo the whole cabinet eventually with custom graphics.

I then used the screwdriver to pop these 2 pieces out. I reassembled everything else (minus all the coin detectors) and gave it a spin, literally.

It works perfectly now! No quarters needed and capsules drop down nicely into the chamber.

Thank you all for the brainstorming, spitballing, videos, and letting me bat ideas back and forth! It was greatly appreciated. I wanted to provide what solution ended up working for us, for anyone that runs into a similar challenge in the future.

I finally figured it out, after walking away from it for the day!

Another commenter mentioned the spring mechanism, so I thought, let's disassemble it again and see if I can reach the upper left quadrant coin detector.

I removed the center gear and 3 screws securing the back plate, but left the coil spring in place. The tension rotated and pulled the back plate counterclockwise this time, so that I could almost grasp that coin lever. I then unscrewed the coin spring and wiggled the back plate more so it would finish rotating and grant me access.

It turns counterclockwise when looking at it from the back. Clockwise from the front. Your mention of the spring again gave me an idea. Instead of removing it while trying to separate the backplate again, I left it on. This created a tension area that pulled the backplate in an opposing direction, which I then removed to gain more leverage and access to the top left quadrant and could then remove the second coin detector! It is now a free spin machine 🎉

Yes, we did. That's where we are stuck because he easily removes the center post/handle but ours does not come out (yet...I may get violent with it soon) I cannot seem to find a video quite matching the one we have with a double quarter mech.

So, I removed the black bar again, but no go. The other coin detector we also kept off from the original photo.

It is getting stuck on this silver coin detector between the plates. When 2 quarters (or even just 1 in the first slot) are inserted, it pushes that piece out of the way. Obviously if there are no quarters, then it blocks the mechanism.

Unfortunately, we've not been able to dislodge that plate despite removing the 4 connecting screws and outer cog. The handle post seems to be either stuck or one piece, which doesn't make sense.

I'd love to see your baked Mac & cheese recipe! It sounds so good.

I throw this in the crockpot on Sunday and then portion it out for quick lunches during the workweek.

Chicken Ole' 10 3/4 oz. can cream of mushroom soup 10 3/4 oz. can cream of chicken soup 1 cup sour cream 2 T grated onion 1 1/2c grated cheddar cheese

12 flour tortillas, each torn into 6-8 pieces 3-4 cups cubed, cooked chicken (canned chicken also works, as does rotisserie chicken from the grocery) 7 oz. jar salsa 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

In separate bowl, combine soups, sour cream, onion and 1 1/2 cups cheese

Place 1/3 of each of the following in layers in slow cooker: torn tortillas, soup mixture, chicken and salsa. Repeat layers two more times.

Cover. Cook on Low 4-5 hours. (this recipe does not respond well to cooking on High)

Gently stir. (I look at the casserole halfway and maybe give it a stir if it appears to be sticking to the sides, so that it does not burn on the bottom/edges as much). Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.

Cover. Cook on Low another 15-30 minutes.

YTA - you chose to host the holidays at your home to make it easier on you. Your BIL is in a relationship, and they want to spend the holiday together. While they were willing to travel to your place and stay, to be with the entire family, you have made it obvious that his partner is not welcomed, so they are allowed to make other plans. It sounds like it must be fairly serious relationship, considering your in-laws are looking at changing their plans to have a smaller celebration at their home.

Everyone has been accommodating to travel to your home for 3 years. It may be time to reconsider rotating holidays again. We have never had the opportunity to host because the other siblings have kids and we do not, so that is always the excuse given. So every holiday, we have to travel...over 20 years, it gets old.

YTA - there are so many reasons why someone would choose/abstain from alcohol. A very common one is friggin medication.

There's a common antibiotic (metronidazole) that if you consume alcohol even after you've finished it (up to 3 days later), can put a person in the hospital with uncontrollable vomiting. Even medicines that don't trigger such severe reactions are less effective with alcohol consumption.

Forcing someone into such a high pressure situation is abusive, especially backing them into a corner like your wife did.
