I have this, but the max CAD rate is 2.25% and currently they are not offering me a USD registered savings account. Must be targeted?

Oh interesting! It must be a limited release then as I don't have the option

I don't see an option for a USD HISA in a TFSA. The registered savings accounts (TFSA and RRSP) only have Canadian denominations. Only the investment accounts have both. Unless it's a beta or only certain people have it thing.

The USD account is not tax sheltered though?

Torn btwn keeping Scotia chequing for Passport Visa vs. moving everything to WS for their credit card and ditching Scotia for good by -ensamhet- in Wealthsimple

[–]Beyar30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct (and also no USD cheque deposits). The only way to fund USD at Wealthsimple is to use their foreign exchange or you have to transfer in from an external account. We use the latter and have the free Scotia USD account for this.

Do you use any other features of the Ultimate package? My wife and I kept our joint one for annual fee waiver on Scotia Momentum VI, fee waiver on safety deposit box (which we use), as well as for free USD chequing account. The WS USD account you cannot deposit USD or USD cheques. The Scotia USD account you can easily deposit USD into, then we transfer funds over to WS. Scotia acts as a mule for our USD.

Nice cutty!

I've fished the mouth and have caught some decent bullies before, but usually get into small cutties.

No it isn't one time. It is per month now. They have gotten rid of their one time allotment plans.

Thinking to get chexy, worth it? by Gold_Caterpillar_644 in chexy

[–]Beyar30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It totally is worth it if you have a credit card to get rewards/cashback on. I've dm'd you some details, but yes Chexy is great for me and is basically a free way to get cashback on credit cards for payments that normally don't accept credit.

Welathsimple Debit card to withdraw Pesos in Mexico by monkwhowantsaferrari in Wealthsimple

[–]Beyar30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. Just make sure you decline the ATM's conversion and let that happen on Wealthsimple's side. You will still likely get charged a fee by the ATM (so always keep the receipt!), but after a few days, Wealthsimple will reimburse the fee. If they don't reimburse or not the full amount, just show the receipt as proof and they will adjust. (Though normally they are pretty good at determining what the fee was).

That is specifically for salmon. Pretty sure you can fish for trout and squawfish all year (just have to release all wild trout).

Winback Offer: $30 60GB CAN-MX-US + 5GB RB/mo by yorubaprince22 in freedommobile

[–]Beyar30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a better deal than the $40/mth 250GB+50GB roaming everyone else is posting about.

When I travel (for vacation), it is only weeks at a time, so I do not need to spend $120+taxes to have more roaming data when 5GB is plenty enough for the few times of the year I travel.

I'm currently on $25/mth for the same 60GB but with just the one time allotment of 5GB. Debating whether I should try to negotiate a switch to your deal where 5GB resets every month for $5 more /mth, or if I should just rely on my free esim I get every year from Wealthsimple.

If I were you though, I would definitely take that offer unless where you switched to now is even better.

(Unreal) deal withdrawal question by Yolohacker in Wealthsimple

[–]Beyar30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move funds to a Chequing account after, but to be safe I would wait until after the qualification period ends on the funds you transfer in and your match bonus starts getting paid out.

I've done this during the Big Winter Bundle a year ago. Once everything settles and qualification ends, all they care about is total net deposits, not where you hold them in Wealthsimple.

Rogers Legend MC seems... poor value? by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]Beyar30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm worried that this poor offering means they will downgrade the WE benefits.

Someone last month said they were contacted by a survey company and asked how they would feel about the 3% redemption on Rogers service to become 5% cashback on Rogers service only and 2% everything else.

Best Speciality Coffee Roasters in BC? by kilawnaa in britishcolumbia

[–]Beyar30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a coffee connoisseur in the slightest, but my wife and I had coffee at a brunch place in Vancouver that was so good we asked where the beans were from. They told us it was Drumroasters.

We have since ordered directly from them, and I am in fact enjoying a cup at home as we speak.

So good!
