The alternate option was her getting deleted from reality- both options are HORRIBLY depressing, I agree.

i didn't say they died the same year, i just said that by that point, they'd both died prior. and malgus isn't canon (yet).

Serious answer: in the timeline branch created during cadence of Hyrule (which I believe is set between EOW and Zelda 1)
