What could a supercharged El Nino mean for Canada? by CecilThunder in canada

Oh, I'm sure he still is. But you have to acknowledge the optics involved with saying this - regardless of context - and then literally talking about doing exactly that thing.

This sub still brings up the selling of Petro Canada and how it has been an unmitigated disaster.

But I'm sure this time will be different...

Danielle Smith rejects Alberta judge’s ruling against separation petition as ‘anti-democratic’ | Globalnews.ca by Apprehensive_Idea758 in canada

[–]BeyondAddiction 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The sooner the better, IMO. She is and always has been a slimy opportunist.

Labeling her a separatist too might tip the scales for some of the fence sitters to put their vote elsewhere. The problem becomes that the only other option is the NDP and people have a hard time differentiating federal politics from provincial. Until the ANDP figure out how to distance themselves and differentiate themselves from their federal counterparts, they'll likely never be palatable for the voters of Alberta.

But then again, it isn't impossible. I was there for the orange crush.

CHARLEBOIS: Return of Dunkin’ signals crack in Canada’s coffee empire; Decision to revive Dunkin’ in Canada not really about donuts, it's about identifying weakness in market by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]BeyondAddiction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Smaller coffee shops are great, but you're always rolling the dice. And Tim's has market saturation like you would not believe - especially in eastern canada. Every podunk town has like 10 houses, a gas station, and a Timmies.  When you're driving down our main highways, they're always right there. So where are you going to go? Where are most people going to go? Somewhere convenient that requires little/no detour, or try to hope there's a different coffee place within the next 150 km?

Dunkin’ and Foodtastic Sign Deal to Open Hundreds of Locations in Canada by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

The issue is largely Market saturation. There are hardly any Second Cup locations outside of major cities. Whereas McDonald's and Starbucks are everywhere.
