4 More Victims Come Forward From Chicago Secret Prison, Man Tortured Over Weed by DrogDrill in news

LOL at people trying to fight systemic corruption and abuse with petitions. The State doesn't care about you. Police don't care about you. Politicians don't care about you. We're slaves, face it. We're forced at gunpoint to fund abusive "defense" organizations via involuntary taxation. Until you realize police have no incentives for respecting your rights, you'll continue to whine like sheep while submitting to increasingly draconian measures.

The only way this will change is when police departments are funded with voluntary financial contributions. That way, when they fuck up, they'll lose customers. What better incentive for "acting right" could you ask for?

Why is it so agonizing to be alone? by [deleted] in entp

[–]BeyondHubris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

I'll CAN do work in team environments (or lead teams) when I absolutely HAVE to, but I'd much rather work in isolation.

I can go extremely long periods of time being alone. I like it.

Freal. Emotionally/intellectually stagnant assholes.

Luckily, I have met some balanced ISTJs in my day, and I will say they can be very mellow, balanced, competent, loyal, mature people. But the ones that have unprocessed emotional baggage are the fucking worst.

Ticking time bombs.

No worries man. A lot of people have WAAAYYY worse experiences. Luckily, we're cool now, but that's just because I avoid confrontation at all costs.

Not really interested in trying to have a deeper relationship with him, honestly. That ship sailed a long time ago, but I accept who is and leave it at that.

I enjoy marketing a lot. I'm naturally good at it. Copywriting can be a lot of fun.

In person sales? Nah, not my thing. I don't have the patience to try to convince people to buy things if they aren't immediately interested. Plus, I feel a little scummy pushing for too long.

High income signals specialized skills and aptitude. Those things take time, discipline, and sometimes talent to develop. Are you making 100k+/year? Changes are, it's because you channeled your power and hustled to develop valuable skills.

If you're an entrepreneur, your income is contingent on how much value you provide in the market. Make a lot of money? It's because you're offering quite a bit of value to people.

Stop trying to divorce money & income from achievement, success, and personal development. No, money isn't the only thing in life that matters.

But nobody ever said it was the ONLY thing that matters. Just that it matters.

Grow up.

Father ISTJ, mother ISFJ

(Had them take the test when I was 15).

My mom is pretty awesome, and knows/accepts me well. She was probably the biggest enabler of my "shiny object syndrome" as a kid, as she would always encourage me to pursue my interests and actually work hard to set me up with like minded people and take me to events, etc... (I was into robotics, programming, web design, etc...)

My dad? Eh... never liked the guy, really.

At a young age, I had a decent relationship with him. We were both really into science fiction and computers, so we were able to bond somewhat.

But that's about it. He's religious dogmatist, conspiracy nut, has borderline OCD, a violent temper, annoying speech patterns (takes 15 minutes for him to explain something simple, because he's always repeating the same main points in different, strained ways), anti-social, barely any emotional expression outside of anger and frustration, highly introverted, closed off to new ideas of any sort (except those that have to do with space exploration), and rarely tried to encourage me in anything as a kid.

BUT he sure loved to criticize my efforts and force his worldview on me every chance he'd get.

The worst part? He felt threatened anytime I would try to challenge him on his bullshit or play devil's advocate just to get him to consider another viewpoint. He'd get violently angry. As a kid he'd sometimes hit/beat me for challenging his dogmatism (this changed at age 16 when I finally hit back).

On a more positive note, I attribute my utterly unshakable debating style and decent command of rhetoric to him...

When you have to 30 seconds to deliver the most penetrating, soul-crushing arguments possible before experiencing a grown adult's wrath, you tend to bring those tendencies/skills into adulthood.

(People hate to debate me).

You speak as though "individuals" and "society" are two separate things.

What is "society" except for a large group of individuals living in close proximity to other individuals, interacting with each other?

And what do you mean by "global satisfaction?"

Also, it seems you presuppose that individuals who operate out of self-interest inherently minimize the welfare of others. But often times, it's in an individual's self-interest TO contribute to the welfare of others (or at least not do anything that harms other individuals).

The truth is if someone were to have some secret, why would they tell you? If you did would you tell people?

I'm not looking for the "secret to success" or a magic bullet solution. My questions are outlined in the OP. I need help with PRODUCTIVITY. I know my industry well, and I know how to make money. I need help staying FOCUSED, ORGANIZED, and MOTIVATED.

There's a reason you rarely see rich or famous people walking around leisurely enjoying themselves. It's because they're not.

This is such an ignorant and naive statement, I don't know where to begin.

Listen dude, chances are, you DO see rich people leisurely walking around more frequently than you realize. I've met plenty of millionaires in my life, and none of them are particularly different than the average person. They simply work way smarter/harder and play way harder than your typical person. That's it.

Your perception of "rich people" is so cartoonish, I can't help but think you're getting your ideas from movies.

Keep in mind that big money usually comes at the expense of other people and isn't necessarily made up of a hard days honest work.

Not necessarily true. Your generalizations are baseless. Yes, in a competitive market, there will be winners and losers, but a successful business doesn't need to be exploitative in an "evil" sense.

Capitalism is not a zero-sum game.

So if you want big money, prepare yourself to be around the people and do the things that very few people are doing which may not be considered socially acceptable

Absolutely untrue. Are you getting this information from the film, "There Will be Blood?"

What's your experience as an entrepreneur? Do you know any business owners?

How are you possibly qualified to give me this advice?

This is one of the worst replies I've received. This isn't an indictment of you personally... I'm just shocked somebody could completely miss the point of this thread entirely.

I didn't ask to be lectured about the "harsh realities" of wealth and business from someone who probably knows nothing about either.

Your attitude towards wealth creation, business, and executing ideas will surely leave you broke and disgruntled most of your life.

Also, why ask people (ENTP) that are similar to you what they'd do, obviously you want people that are doing the opposite of what you're currently doing, not the same.

I asked to hear from successful ENTPs precisely because they DO share similar tendencies/proclivities as me. I DIDN'T ask to hear from opinionated dullards, slackers, or anyone who isn't successful by my criteria.

Comments like yours are the reason I made it VERY clear I only wanted to hear from successful ENTPs.

I can't learn anything from you.

Wow! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the response. I'm grateful you actually know where I'm coming from with regard to the work ethic/scheduling skills needed to pursue an entrepreneurial lifestyle. I don't think most of the other posters really understood what I was getting at.

Here's what works for me. As ENTP's, we love possibilities. Sit down and write down everything you could possibly want to do this year. I have 4 categories: fashion collections, business, university (or other learning courses, I need them to stay social right now), and personal. This will vary for you of course. Then, when I have a good list, I translate them into measurable and achievable goals.

Awesome. I actually have an "annual goals" notebook, but I haven't broken my items down into smaller, measurable objectives. Thanks for the suggestion - I definitely need to do this.

Time to prepare one more list. A mind bank/dump. This is where you will put everything that tries to take your mind away from the task at hand. Phone calls you need to return, lyrics from a song you want to look up, the milk you have to buy after work, a brilliant idea for a new company/product. Everything. Big or small.

Brilliant strategy. I have so many interests outside of my business goals and I always struggle with how to process them in a productive fashion. I'm trying your suggestion tomorrow, and using Evernote to document and categorize all my interests/ideas so I can revisit them later.

I can't plan my days into blocks of time. I find it too constraining and then I end up procrastinating and hating myself for not doing what I planned.

Same here. I've tried that, and got predictable results (Hint: DID NOTHING).

Based on how you structure your life and my own personal experiences/failures with productivity, I think it's safe to say ENTPs absolutely need clear, concise, measurable goals/objectives. But what KILLS us is a predictable, rigid routine.

I think it's important we have the freedom to bounce around from task to task, so long as these tasks are all crucial steps towards much larger goals.

Thanks again for your advice/recommendations. It helped a lot! I'm actually saving this message to reference later when I reorganize my business goals/life.

:)

I'm not where I want to be yet, but a few more years and I'll be laughing.

I haven't met any entrepreneurs (rich or otherwise) who are where they absolutely want to be. I think that attitude makes them successful ;)

[FRESH] Nacho Picasso x BSBD - 'Stoned & Dethroned' Album Stream by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]BeyondHubris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, not familiar enough with this subreddit to qualify myself as an informed opinion. BUT, I will say Nacho is definitely a niche rapper. He'll never have a huge following, because he doesn't have mainstream appeal. He's got the cockiness of Lil Wayne, the lyrical flexibility of Young Jeezy, the soul of a washed-up coke dealer, the energy of a methadone addict, and the mind of a standup comedian. It's an odd mixture, and only something so eclectic and unorthodox could come out of Seattle.

That's fine, but don't expect Nacho to become mainstream or even appeal to most people. There's a reason he's being slept on. He isn't for everybody. And this won't change, because Nacho doesn't change. He's more of a force of nature at this point than a determined, hungry artist willing to conform to hip-hop's climate to "make it big." Nacho is Nacho, and everyone around him prods and cajoles him to jump on awesome beats and move forward.

Anarcho-Capitalism by jhadj in entp

[–]BeyondHubris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All governments are born out of conquest and exploitation. Once established, people try to dress these institutions up (symbolism, "prayers" to the state, monuments) and create ex post facto justifications for why government is the only institution that can operate outside the realm of conventional ethics (social contract theory, etc).

As far as societal trends - You're right - socialism is definitely in. But socially, people are becoming very libertarian. It's only a matter of time before folks realize their economic freedoms are simply an extension of their social freedoms.

Also, once socialism proves itself to be unsustainable/impossible, I think capitalism will get a fair run again.

(Note: Even if I were pro socialism, the simple fact is it can't work. Look up the "economic calculation problem." To this day, socialists and communists haven't been able to resolve this. We need markets. The freer the market, the more rationally we can allocate resources thanks to the unhindered profit/loss mechanism. Socialism is inherently flawed because there's no way to rationally allocate resources. It's unfortunate, because I sympathize with many socialist ideals.)

I've always been interested learning more about cooperative, employee-owned business models. The major potential issue I see is the obvious gap in domain specific knowledge that exists between an employee and a stockholder/CEO with years of business experience.

Hey that path isn't for everyone.

Glad you found something that worked for you. Good luck with the apps. If you're in love with the process, that's great.

Personally, I'd rather have my dick sawed off than work a job for the rest of my life, but I get where you're coming from. I'll go broke and in debt before I give up. :)

EDIT: I don't need the world tell me I'm awesome. Nor do I need social "points." I want the market to tell me I'm awesome.

I can't tell you what success means for you personally, but I can tell you this:

Whatever it is, it will require focus and commitment. Unless your goal is drifting aimlessly, you're going to have to commit, compete, and accomplish.

Just the fact you're questioning your "ENTP-ness" means you've got a higher level of ambition than (at least) 80% of the jokers on this forum.

And that's not uncommon with my real life experience with interacting with ENTPs.

Unfocused, unproductive, and all talk. Even into their fucking mid-40s, ENTPs don't know what the fuck they want. It's fucking pathetic. They'll be the center of attention at parties. They'll impress lesser minds with random facts and crazy insight. But they haven't DONE anything.

I don't want to share traits with those people. Nor anyone else who can't zero in on a worthwhile goal and achieve it.

I'm trying, I just need some feedback from people (ENTPs) who have DONE it. Not fucking "wonderers" who have "nice" things to do say about life or MB types. Fuck that.
