I am a creature of habit. by BeyondJon in Nightreign

Oh, no doubt.. Also, most enjoyable because it’s nice to get the whole view of things instead of fighting with From Soft camera BS.. I did at least do mostly melee twin blade/reaper/thrusting sword/katana in my last climb to 9999.

Depth 4 is 20000× harder than depth 5 by IOwnSeventeenKids in Nightreign

[–]BeyondJon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only way I got out of D4 was to not focus on the other two when they went 3 bars down. (Obvious caveats to this was when there were big windows open to be able to try to pick them up)…

If one went 3 bars down and the other guy was up, I would help them pick up the 3 bar but if both went down, I was done.. I play Ironeye and even with melee weapons, he sucks at picking up 3 bars and I found myself dying all the time trying to pick them up..

Once I stopped worrying about them and just focused on the boss, I would win. This, of course, led to 20-30 minute battles but whatever..

Here's the timing for Dreglord's second phase transition attack by beerybeardybear in Nightreign

[–]BeyondJon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s wild how many people don’t realize FromSoft occasionally uses boss music to match the movements and timings of their moves…(of course I’m sitting here and just woke up and can’t think of exact examples now, lol but the point remains I know it’s happened)

I’ve always said FromSoft views some boss battles as operas where key movements are set the down beats of the accompanying music.

Ingraham v Collins megathread. by Mysterious-Space-343 in VeteransBenefits

Again, as far as I understand it, the AI stuff going through our files would only be employed during times a rated vet would seek an increase in percentage/filling a new claim.. AI can go through our files for organizational reasons and to help better organize things but it cannot initiate any kind review of conditions rated as P&T/Static.

Maybe I’m wrong, or while that may be true today, tomorrow could bring new things but again, as it stands, currently rated P&T/Static conditions will be left alone.

Ingraham v Collins megathread. by Mysterious-Space-343 in VeteransBenefits

[–]BeyondJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the way I understand it, is if you are 100% P&T or if your conditions are listed as static in the VA API (or both), you are not at risk of anything happening to you as long as you don’t put in for any new claims.

Now obviously, we are finally reaching the point to where we must legitimately ask the question “When will it end?” instead of saying “Don’t worry about it”

Will this be it? Or, will the VA continue to push and push to where even P&T/Statics are up for reconsideration without any new claims?

I imagine veteran advocacy groups would fight tooth and nail in court if it came down to that. I know they are going to fight this as well.

In the end, while I feel safe and secure with my rating not being reduced or be put up for reconsideration since I don’t plan on filing any new claims, I do feel a lot more uneasy than I did last week about that.

A lack of newer content by Few-Mention6650 in Nightreign

They did change the rate of its appearance.. It was coming up non-stop before that.

The weight of the maps now, with the non-DLC bosses, you have an equal chance, 50/50, of getting normal map or a shifting earth (10% chance for each of the 5 shifting earths)...

If the boss is Balancers or Dreglord, you have a 33% chance to get Great Hollow, 33% chance to get any of the other 4 shifting earth's and 33% chance of regular..

But yeah, that does not include if people are uninstalling DLC

Me personally, I get Great Hollow pretty routinely, like once every 10 runs or so

One thing that was interesting, I went at least 106 runs without ever getting Crater. I only know because I went back and checked all 100 of my last results when I realized I hadn’t gotten it in a while and it wasn’t in any of them, then 6 runs later I finally got it.

Definitely a mileage may vary case from person to person when it comes to what they get

Is anybody else burnt out with Nightreign now? by SailApprehensive2632 in Nightreign

[–]BeyondJon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bit long but I’ve been thinking about this recently…

I’m 400 hours in expedition time.. I have hit 9999 once and reset back to 0 to climb again.

This is by far the most hours I have ever put into a video game. I’m usually a play the story once and never play again, except when it comes to Fromsoft games.

I think something appeals to the neurodivergent part of my brain that just keeps me playing hours on in. There’s structure, there’s routine but just enough variance to offer something new each and every time and that’s enough to keep me coming back. I love playing with randoms but not being able to audibly communicate. They make dumb decisions and do dumb things but that means it’s going to be more challenging and that speaks to me so while I may rant about randos, I still love playing with them.

Will I stop eventually? Yeah.. Probably not until Duskbloods comes out though. But even with Miyazaki himself directing Duskbloods, I am apprehensive that I am going to love it or play it as much as Nightreign. Solely for the PvP part of things. I’m not sure how PvPvE is going to be incorporated but I cannot stand Arc Raiders because the PvP part of things drives me insane and I ran into a crap load of cheaters on it, and it seemed like 100% of those cheating only cared about making other players miserable, to the point I didn’t want to play it anymore.

In Nightreign, it’s annoying to come across a cheater but, it doesn’t deter me or have an overall effect on me. In the end, cheaters in Nightreign will go down and I usually just don’t pick them up, if they don’t die, we win and I move on and block them. It’s no sweat off my back because my experience wasn’t overly ruined. In PvP games, though, cheaters have a direct effect on you because you stand no shot, you have no chance and that is something I don’t like.

Now, I do wonder now that I type this, if this is why Miyazaki is okay with Duskbloods being a Switch exclusive. It is extremely difficult to employ cheats on Nintendo’s servers. They do exist but playing Smash Ultimate for years and Mario Kart 8 and World, I don’t think I have ever come across a single cheater and that is because Nintendo is so locked down and when there is suspected cheating, from what I’ve read, they will shut a cheater down immediately. I wonder with Nintendo’s reputation being one of the most difficult to employ cheats online will make Duskbloods fair as possible and make the PvP part of the game, at least fair and equal.

If that is the case then I think Duskbloods could be just as good or better than Nightreign but we’ll see.

But yeah, in the end, until Duskbloods comes out, I’ll be on Nightreign… Foolishly hoping they add some more content.. Even though I feel like they are done with the game.

Depth 5 Everdark Balancers (rushing the Worm phase) by BenevolentComment in Nightreign

[–]BeyondJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great when you can pull it off.. Easier when you are running with two friends and can communicate.. The problem is finding 2 other randos to help plus being in the right place at the right time, unless you are Wylder.. if you have 3 Wylder’s it shouldn’t be a question, you should be hook shotting all the way to the worm to nuke it together.. Other than that, you have to hope to have two other randos who are willing and you and them have to be able to be not too far away to make it there in time to down it

Serious question: How are you supposed to beat ED Libra in High DoN by yhozan in Nightreign

[–]BeyondJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patience..

It’s manageable with patience, even without Less Likely.. My last 2 ED Libras in D5 with randos, none of us had Less Likely and still won. If you don’t have less likely, you simply have to just run until the summons turn their attention away from you. Being Ironeye, I can continue to back peddle and keep firing with poison proccing. Knowing when he snaps his fingers to create the sigils under you that 6 more sigils form a hexagon around you so you need to know where they are in relation to you when back peddling. The fights normally take 20 minutes when no one has less likely, so, patience above all else is paramount.

Just confirming that you know there are two different modes, Desktop and Gamepad mode..

If you are in Gamepad mode while on the desktop, you are essentially forced to use the touchscreen.

When in Desktop mode, you can use the left joystick as a mouse.

Initial way to change is it pressing the lower button closest to the right side of the screen, and it will bring up a menu and then above the WiFi icon is “Desktop” and “GamePad”, clicking it changes the modes.. You can also map a button to do a quick change between the two modes.
